Cammed & LS-swapped Caprice Sounds Heavenly

By -

YouTuber Spraywaycustoms takes delivery of a classic Chevy Caprice LS Brougham with a cammed 6.0, and it’s getting a crazy cool paint job.

There’s something woefully appropriate about an LS in a Caprice. It’s even right in the name. Chevy Caprice LS Brougham. It makes a lot of sense, then, that the “Box Chevy” as they are affectionately known is pretty commonplace to see with a Gen III or IV small-block planted under the hood.

If there’s one true Box Chevy king, though, it’s Youtuber Spraywaycustoms. The channel follows the projects of Marvin Hobbs, an extremely talented painter, and overall automotive enthusiast. He does everything from full paint jobs and bodywork down to custom fiberglass work. There’s a lot of cool stuff to see on his channel, but today we’re going to show you his most recent customer car.

Ms. Ruby the LS Swapped 1989 Chevy Caprice Brougham with cammed 6.0

Ms. Ruby is a 1989 Chevy Caprice Brougham with a cammed 6.0 swap. Right off the bat, we get to hear the incredible idle as she’s loaded off the trailer. It’s tough to beat the sound of a choppy idling LS engine.

Ms. Ruby is owned by ChevyBoxRyder on Instagram. He dropped it off Hobbs for a fresh coat of candy paint. He also has a YouTube channel where he documents the entire build, including the self-done LS-swap.

“This is more like a Brandywine. A darker Brandywine, but I think it’d look good with that top,” says Hobbs

He states that the owner is leaning more towards the darker color, and we think it’s an excellent choice.

“I’ll start stripping everything down, and then I’ll be good to go. I’ve got all kinds of videos planned up on this here,” says Hobbs

The devil is in the details with paintwork. However, Hobbs has shown his meticulous attention to detail when painting a car in previous videos. Ms. Ruby is pretty straight, but there are a couple of dents and dings he’ll have to fix before he sprays its shiny new paint job.

Ms. Ruby isn’t the first Box Chevy to get the Sprayway treatment. Hobbs’ house is a haven of awesome LS-swapped Caprices. Including the 1987 in his garage currently, which has been the subject of some awesome DIY videos on bodywork, painting, and pinstriping.

“I’ve still got to do the final video on this 87 here,” says Hobbs.

Just from what we can see in this footage, though, we can tell Ms. Ruby is going to look brand new by the time he is finished with it. She’s going to look as good as she sounds, and that’s a hard task. We look forward to seeing more work on Ms. Ruby, and if you’d like to keep up with the project, be sure to subscribe to the Spraywaycustoms Youtube channel.
