Chevy Doubles Down On Mustang Trade Deal

Chevy is now offering over $5,000 off a brand new Camaro SS exclusively to current Ford Mustang owners or lessees.

It wasn’t too long ago we brought you the news that Chevy was offering Mustang owners $2,500 in cash allowance toward a new Camaro SS. Perhaps it’s a lack of Camaro sales, or they’re just feeling very generous for the Holidays. However, whatever their reasoning, Chevy has decided to step it up and offer over double that figure.

Carbuzz recently brought to our attention that they have sweetened the deal even more just in time for the year’s end. Mustang owners can now trade up to a Camaro SS with the $2,500 cash allowance on top of employee pricing. That brings the total discount to $5,495 off MSRP. Meaning, a base model 2019 Camaro SS would be $31,505. That’s a remarkably low price and makes it woefully tempting to anyone with a Mustang. While there are undoubtedly die-hard brand loyal individuals out there, those just looking to get themselves into a flagship American V8 sports coupe have an excellent opportunity to do just that.

So how do the two stack up? The Camaro has five less horsepower than the Mustang at 455 horsepower. However, the 0-60 times both float right around four seconds. The automatic Camaro SS is said to do 0-60 in just 3.9 seconds, which is a tad bit better than the Mustang’s advertised 4.1 seconds. The Camaro’s combined estimated MPG is 20, while the Mustang is 19.

Again, pretty similar. Additionally, you won’t be shocked to find that both have a reported quarter-mile time around 12.5 seconds. It is a dead-on comparison with the two, so it truly just boils down to individual preferences. Some people like a Camaro, and some like a Mustang. That’s just how it has been since the beginning of time, or at least the beginning of the Camaro’s production.

Overall, this is just a great time to buy. Without a Mustang, unfortunately, Chevy doesn’t seem to be offering any deals. However, with it getting closer and closer to Christmas, there’s a good chance that will change. Year-end sales are some of the best ways to get into a brand-new car cheap, as dealers are trying to clear out the outgoing model year inventory. It just might be time for you to get a new Camaro, don’t you think?
