With Nothing More Than a Coilover Suspension and Old Tires, This C5 Corvette Manages to String Together Incredible Drift Moves!

We know the C5 Corvette is capable of many things. Whether it’s track days, drag racing, or autocross, the combination of a powerful LS motor, rear-wheel drive, and sleek body allow it to excel at many things. But drifting?

Contrary to popular belief, drifting isn’t just “doing a really long and wide donut.” Drifting through a course’s layout tests many components on a vehicle, such as suspension, steering, differential, tires, etc. Therefore, doing “pretty good” at drifting isn’t always easy, especially in a powerful rear-wheel drive American sports car. Perhaps that’s why the field is typically made up of imports.

Taylor Ray shows us on his new video titled “C5 Corvette First Drift Event!!,” what it’s like to jump into his C5 Corvette and go drifting. Granted, his ride isn’t completely stock, with a coilover suspension, a quick-release steering wheel, and some old and chewed-out rubber, it’s been very slightly modified. The steering wheel itself does not enhancing performance, so that makes this C5 nearly stock.

Watch the video and see how he progresses from simply attempting to string a couple of corners together, to actually drifting the entire course. It’s pretty awesome! It’ll make you want to go drifting yourself, but remember, keep it at the track.

Enjoy!
