Exorcist ZL1 Makes 1,000 Horsepower, Sounds Insane

By -

Brutal, 1,000 horsepower Camaro ZL1 Exorcist from Hennessey looks and sounds like an absolute monster.

This certainly isn’t Hennessey’s first go-around with ridiculous horsepower in a Camaro. In fact, this isn’t even the first time the iconic Exorcist has made headlines. Back in 2018, professional driver Brian Smith took one of these monsters up to 217 miles per hour. That being said, we certainly are never mad at a chance to take a look and especially a listen.

Lucky for us, a recent Hennessey Performance youtube video a recently finished Exorcist comes out to the Pennzoil Proving Grounds to strut its stuff. We love that Hennessey videos are so short and to the point. You open the video and immediately get what you are after, the roaring sound of a pissed off engine. What more of a greeting could you possibly need?

This particular Exorcist is likely a customer car. According to their description, it is out on the track for some “validation testing.” Call it what you want, we’ll have what it’s having. The ear-splitting whine of the supercharger as the car approaches only loses to the roaring sound of the furious 6.2-liter V8 as this 1,000 horsepower monster screams bye. Even at idle, the thumping sound of the custom HPE Camshaft is enough to wake the dead.

The Exorcist is the Hennessey response to the Hellcat. It starts with a ZL1 Camaro and ends with 1,000 horsepower. However, production is limited to only 100 examples, according to the Hennessey Performance website. Additional upgrades include a 2.9-liter supercharger, a billet throttle body, an oversized heat exchanger, and exhaust, including everything from the manifolds back. Amongst other things, these upgrades push it to the whopping 1,000 horsepower mark. It uses that power to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in just 2.1 seconds and will fire off a quarter-mile in under 10 seconds. Furthermore, it also includes a two year/24,000-mile warranty from Hennessey.

Even James May of The Grand Tour fame praises the absolute bewilderment that is this beast of a car. What makes this Exorcist stand out a bit more, though, is the fact that it is convertible. A quick Google image search shows that the majority of the ZL1 Camaros getting the Exorcist treatment are coupes. Thus, this one is a bit of an outsider. Not in a bad way, though. Who knows, it might be worth a pretty penny some time down the road just for this fact.

While this isn’t the first Exorcist, the fastest or a record-breaker, we certainly can’t get enough of watching this clip. Even Hellcat fans can appreciate the majestic beast that is the Hennessey Performance Exorcist.
