We don’t care what you say, but in 1969, the top muscle car was the Chevelle SS 396 L78. It was the best combination of power, performance, and raw brutal noise. It also doesn’t hurt to look as good as this car did. It was powered by a 396 cubic inch V8, that produced 375 horsepower. Of course, you could get the Chevelle with the L89, but all that did was given the same engine some aluminum heads. This though, this Chevelle L78 was the one to have.
In addition to the brilliant drivetrain, Chevy also stuck the F41 heavy-duty suspension under the car to deal with all the torque the engine produced. The suspension package included stiffer springs and shocks, a stabilizer bar, and a 4-link coil spring rear layout. All the control arms were boxed to give further chassis rigidity.
This particular 1969 Chevelle SS 396 L78 was restored only two years ago. Every nut, every bolt has been sorted and everything refreshed to give it a factory appearance and performance.
