Hybrid Tech: E30 Straight-Six Sees the Light; Turns Turbo LSX
The E30 is seen as a sacred cow more than any other BMW for good reason. The car was very light, the suspension was well sorted and the option of a straight-six made it a very capable and entertaining car. People love them. Hell, I love them. So does LS1Tech member Dirk_LSXT. After he melted a piston (because turbo), he decided to drop the straight-six in exchange for something a little more… LS-esque.
The engine? A 5.3-liter LM7. The cam and intake manifold are from an LS6, the headgaskets are from an LS9, and ARP hardware keeps everything from flying apart. Stock, this thing would be a helluva little car. With a turbo… Shit’s going to start getting real. I love it.
