Insane 1000 HP Carbon Fiber AWD Cutlass Actually Exists

By -

This might be the craziest Cutlass build ever.

There are few cars that are quite as representative of a time period as the g-bodies.  They really have the definitive 1980’s boxy shape. While they may have not aged too well in our current ultra-sleek, stream-lined body styling dominanting in our automotive landscape, they still hold a certain charm in our hearts and minds.

This particular G-body Cutlass is unlike anything we have honestly ever seen. Thanks to the Hoonigan YouTube channel, we get to learn a little bit more about this truly unique build.

The owner of this insane 1982 Cutlass is Brian King and he drove the car all the way from Nebraska to California over 1,600 miles to come on the show. If that isn’t determination, we don’t know what is.

The Cutlass features a TexasSpeed 427 LSx engine straight from TexasSpeed. If you guys didn’t know, that’s just as about as baller as an LS can get and the near $20,000 price point for that package is telling of this build’s quality. As if this wasn’t enough, Brian stacked on a F1-X Procharger supercharger to really bring this build to the next level. Although the car hasn’t been dynoed yet, it is running 22 psi of boost through a 427, so we would be surprised to see this combination making any less than 1000 WHP.

If Brian stopped the build right there, we would be already be more than impressed by the quality of parts of this Cutlass. However, Brian is just getting started. He hand made almost every body panel by hand in carbon fiber. Yes, carbon fiber. Not only the exterior, but he also did all the interior panels layed in carbon. In addition, he also added carbon ceramic brakes (usually ridiculously expensive to buy and replace). The Cutless usually weighs around 3700 pounds, but after the carbon Brian estimates he should have cleaned up 400 pounds or so.

You might think you didn’t know anybody could spend this much time or effort on a Cutlass, but Brian isn’t done yet. He decided that he needed his G-body to also be AWD. How did he manage to do that? He cut the Cutless frame in the middle and kept the Cutless frame in the rear and mated an Oldsmobile Bravada front frame. The actual AWD is out of an Trailblazer SS and of course, the transmission is fully built.

This was Brian’s first car back in 1990 and its still his only car until today. His Cutlass is one of hell of a character. Please watch the video to see the build do some wild launches, you won’t regret it.
