LS1Tech at the 2022 NSRA Street Rod Nationals

Louisville, Kentucky’s usual experience with horsepower comes on the first Saturday in May, when thousands of locals and visitors (and a few big names, too) flock to Churchill Downs to take in “The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports,” the Kentucky Derby. Of course, Louisville is also over 90 minutes north both the National Corvette Museum and the Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the home of America’s Sports Car, the Corvette.

However, on the first weekend of August, thousands of street rods from all over the United States and beyond bring a whole herd of horsepower to Louisville’s Kentucky Exposition Center for the annual National Street Rod Association Street Rod Nationals. And no doubt there are more than a few rides with LS and LT power under the hood. Here’s what LS1Tech found while dealing with thunderstorms and humidity down in Kentuckiana.

Cameron Aubernon's path to automotive journalism began in the early New '10s. Back then, a friend of hers thought she was an independent fashion blogger.

Aubernon wasn't, so she became one, covering fashion in her own way for the next few years.

From there, she's written for: Louisville.com/Louisville Magazine, Insider Louisville, The Voice-Tribune/The Voice, TOPS Louisville, Jeffersontown Magazine, Dispatches Europe, The Truth About Cars, Automotive News, Yahoo Autos, RideApart, Hagerty, and Street Trucks.

Aubernon also served as the editor-in-chief of a short-lived online society publication in Louisville, Kentucky, interned at the city's NPR affiliate, WFPL-FM, and was the de facto publicist-in-residence for a communal art space near the University of Louisville.

Aubernon is a member of the International Motor Press Association, and the Washington Automotive Press Association.
