The newest addition to the LS family made it’s way into the lime light earlier, wrapped inside the determinedly aggressive sheet metal of the new Z06. That’s great and all, but I know—and you know—that the real star here is the LT4. I’ll give it a solid week before someone shoehorns this new V8 into a 4th gen Camaro.

Here’s a closer look at the cutaway model they had on display at the Corvette booth along side a much rarer LS. For what the C7.R engine lacks in power, it makes up for in cool points. Who wouldn’t kill for those carbon fiber runners and valve covers?

LT4

  • 6.2 Liters
  • Supercharged
  • Direct Injection
  • Dry Sump
  • 625 horsepower
  • 7-speed manual/8-speed automatic

C7.R

  • 5.5 Liters
  • Naturally Aspirated
  • Direct Injection
  • Dry Sump
  • 488 horsepower
  • 6-speed manual (racing-spec sequential)
