Mazda Miata Packs a Very Angry LS Powerplant

LS Swapped Mazda Miata with Nitrous for sale

Sneaky Mazda Miata hides an ethanol breathing, nitrous snorting LS1 and it’s for sale, if you’re brave enough to get behind the wheel.

The NA Mazda Miata is notoriously regarded as one of the best handling vehicles of the last few decades. Their price is rapidly increasing in stock format. This one, however, is not stock in the slightest. In fact, the most prominent criticism of the Miata is its low power output. Though it’s fun around the bends, it doesn’t impress anyone with its 0-60 time. This one, though, is certain to impress and, more likely, downright frighten anyone who dares enter either seat of this angry little roadster.

This Mazda Miata is listed for sale in a Miata Facebook group, though the seller says that if it does not sell, it will make its way to auction powerhouse Bring A Trailer. An LS-swapped Miata is not a remarkably uncommon thing. However, this one has a little bit more zest than a lot of them do. Let’s dig in and see what’s going on under the hood.

This Mazda Miata is not for the Faint of Heart

Under the hood, you’ll find an LS1 with a Trick Flow cylinder head and camshaft package. Heads and a cam are enough to wake up an LS1 to pretty rowdy levels in a car that weighs twice as much as this Miata. That, evidently, wasn’t quite enough for the builder of this car. If you look close, you’ll see a handful of lines running to the intake manifold. Those lines are routed to the nitrous bottle in the trunk. That’s correct! This mighty Miata has a 100 shot Nitrous Express kit on tap.

This laughing gas-hungry LS1 sends power to a T56 six-speed manual transmission, which feeds it to a Ford 8.8-inch rear end beefed up with Drive Shaft Shop axles and hubs. Attempting to transfer that power to the ground is a set of 275 wide Hoosier A7 radial track tires. Though, we say attempting because we suspect that even those tires will gladly spin if you want them to.

Additional modifications include a twin-disc clutch, polyurethane suspension bushings, and a Wilwood big brake kit to ensure you keep this thing on the road. That being said, if it did get a little unruly, you could rest easy. It features a Boss Frog double hoop roll bar, fender bracing, frame rail, and subframe bracing.

It also includes a Treasure Coast hardtop, a GPS speedometer, and a two-step timing module for even more fun. Additionally, the seller states that the gauges, hinges, and everything else works as intended. Included in the sale is a full paperwork trail and receipt history predating the LS swap.

What’s the Price Tag Look Like?

Calling this an LS swap is a bit insulting, considering the extensive amount of work put into it as a whole. It is an LS swap, but it is also essentially fully prepped with all the necessary supporting mods to make the best use of the swap.

The seller is asking $25,000. While that is a lot of money, considering the amount of effort put into this project, it doesn’t seem like too bad of a deal. So get it before it’s gone!
