Motortrend Looks at the 2015 Corvette Z06

There’s a few things we know since the 2015 Corvette Z06 debuted at the Detroit Auto Show.

We know its 6.2 liter supercharged LS makes 620 horses with a whopping 650 lb-tq. We also know that the Z06 destroyed the legendary outgoing ZR1’s lap times. Official word is that this will be the fastest production Corvette of all time.

Here we have Motortrend’s coverage of the new Z06 through their Downshift series. I’m a fan of how they do it. Beautifully simple panning shots in a sterile photo studio, and a series of engineers and Z06 team members pretty much geeking out about the car they built.

The classy, simple shots and fleeting mood music (which seems like it’d be better suited for a National Geographic program on underwater sea life) is an almost hilarious composition against the sheer violence of the Z06’s sheet metal. The Z06’s aero-trimmings, flares, bulges, and ridges make you want to hear it snarl and growl… And, to find out what 620 hp/650 lb-tq feels like.

Damn. I can’t wait to see this thing in action!
