Default 6.0 with 5.3 crank ???

Ok this is just a question, if you took a 6.0 and used a 5.3 crank and conn rods. put the 6.0 pistons on, First can it be done and second what would you have if it can.

Youd have a 6liter. Crank and rods are the same between the two. Difference is bore size.

It always amazes me how many guys do not check the specs of the engine{s} being discussed before asking such questions...

For being around here for 6 years, he didn't pick up very much knowledge in the LS tech dept.

Hey you've been here for SIX years. In that time you would have absorbed the fact that except for the 4.8 and LS7, ALL LS engine cranks have the same stroke. None of us got bothered, just amused that you didn't know that.
As you say yourself, you joined this forum to learn this stuff. So in six years, why didn't you?
As for your last comment, none of us here are your female friends, so knock off the focused profanity.

Thanks che70 I did not know that. so they used the same crank for 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 and rods. that blows my mind. I only ever had a 4.8 in my 74 mgb. I read an article this past summer about making my 4.8 into a 5.3 high compression. So my question about the 6.0 was just me thinking out loud. thanks again.

So I did join to learn but that never came up or i wouldn't have asked. you being a " senior tech " should be here to help us not belittle us. I had a drill Sargent that told us over and over the only dumb question is the one you didn't ask. you pretty much crap on that statement. I'm one of the biggest ball busters and I can take it like I give it . But you weren't joking or you would have said so "lol" IF you don't want to help just keep quite or bust ***** just be nice enough to let us know you are. Sorry for the profanity I was just tipped over when I read your reply. Especially you, You have helped me in the past so I didn't know where you were coming from.

Dude, yeah I should have stuck a LOL in there as it was amusing and weren't trying to make fun of you. I guess it's an assumption that having been around here for 6 years it was something you would already know. My bad, and my apology for any ego damage. Stick around and join in the fun!

In short yes, this works but you should balance the crank as the 6 liter pistons are heavier. It also matters as gen 3 and gen 4 are not interchangeable piston wise (one is press fit one is not). If your using a gen 3 crank with a gen 4 pistons and rods you should definitely re balance as they are heavier than gen 3's.

293SX- He was looking to see if it would change the stroke. No it won't. He doesn't need a new crank.

What i was trying to explain to him is that it wont work properly unless he re balances it. Guys have done it without but for how long does it last idk.

He does ask "First can it be done and second what would you have if it can." which i assumed means he wants more of an explanation.

Having said that if you can read OP's mind by all means tell me.

I agree, his post maybe a bit vague. But some should chill a bit , OP may know more than you give him credit for.. OP did finish your 5.3 high compression buld ?

To reiterate- OP did not know most LS cranks are the same stroke. He wondered if by putting a 5.3 crank in a 6.0 block what the displacement would be. A later post by him said he did not know so many LS engines used the same stroke. There was some humor at his expense, but I think it's all sorted out now.
