Mustang/Camaro Mash-up Shows Us What Cruelty Truly Looks Like

Camaro Mustang

What happens when you combine two of the most prolific cars, the Camaro and Mustang? Abject terror, that’s what.

We always get a kick out of modifications that really push the envelope. An inspired swap can be genius and deliver the superior performance of the LS platform. Or a well-executed mod can look and drive so slick. And there are builds that make us shake our heads in utter disbelief. Which brings us to…this. This is a Ford Mustang mixed with a Chevy Camaro.

The Drive spotted this on a Facebook group posted by Jay Prince. The build, which we’re calling the “Camustang,” appears to be built from the body of a fifth-generation Ford Mustang S197, and inexplicably swapping out the front end in favor of a Camaro ZL1.

Separately, we have a Ford Mustang and a Chevy Camaro; both iconic and asphalt-kicking rides in their own right. Not to mention, natural competitors. So, why do we need them to join forces in such an awkward, unholy, some might say sacrilegious way? Oh, we don’t. We really don’t.

Now, to be fair, this does appear to have been done with some level of skill. But, why? That’s a lot of money and work to custom build a car that disappoints both Camaro and Mustang fans.

“It’s not a kit,” said Prince. “I dissected each car and welded parts back together to create this custom car. It has a 2015 Camaro LS3 drivetrain and interior.” Although, this blasphemous union uses LS-power, we’re still not entirely comfortable cosigning it.

You certainly could make a Mustang Camaro build work, but why? Maybe the point was to combine these two cars into one super pony car. Perhaps it was an attempt to broker a peace accord between Ford and Chevy? Or maybe the driver just lost a bet. Whatever the intent, it just seems completely unnecessary.

We’re just glad he didn’t try to squeeze in a Dodge Challenger somewhere.

It reminds us of Jurassic Park, when Jeff Goldblum’s Dr. Malcolm says “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”
