Is the New Corvette Grand Sport the Ultimate Corvette?

Some Corvette owners want something a bit more hardcore than the Stingray, yet don’t want the price tag, or the unreliability that could come along with a ridiculously powerful Corvette Z06. Well, rejoice, because the Corvette Grand Sport is here!

Our good friends from 95Octane.com were one of the lucky ones to pilot the Grand Sport around the very technical Atlanta Motorsports Park last week, and they’ve taken these awesome shots we’re sharing with you. As you may already know, the Grand Sport has always taken things to another level when it comes to on-track performance, and this new model isn’t the exception.

With a much more aggressive (and lovely) aero body kit, a wider track, re-tuned stabilizer bars and a sharper attitude than the “normal” Corvette, the Grand Sport is all about shedding the tenths at the track. To help it do that, this sweet muscle machine employee large Brembo brake rotors and calipers, but you can also spend some extra cash and go for the optional carbon ceramic brake set.

While most of us would expect a bump in horsepower from the standard Stingray, the Grand Sport makes with the same 460 horsepower from the LT1 V8 motor paid to a 7-speed manual gearbox, or a very quick 8-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Regardless of the transmission of your choice, the Grand Sport will show you a heck of a time!

According to figures released by Chevy earlier this year, the Grand Sport will start at $66,445, with the convertible model adding an extra $4k to the starting price. In many ways, the Grand Sport is filling the performance, looks and price gap between the Stingray and the powerful (and unreliable) Z06.

All I can say, is that I can’t wait to get my hands on one!
