World’s first ProCharged Corvette E-Ray is a total monster in a straight line, not to mention a cheaper hypercar beater.

The Corvette E-Ray debuted to much fanfare as the first-ever hybrid version of America’s sports car, and it’s one that harnesses the power of electricity not for efficiency’s sake – but rather, as a way to enhance performance. In that regard, the E-Ray is undoubtedly impressive, as it can rocket from 0-60 mph in a mere 2.5 seconds – one click faster than the Z06 – thanks to the addition of an electric motor up front that helps it generate a combined 655 horsepower and 592 pound-feet of torque. Thus, it’s no surprise that this ProCharged Corvette E-Ray is even quicker.

The world’s first ProCharged Corvette E-Ray comes to us straight from the manufacturer of those centrifugal superchargers itself, and that is a truly bonkers combination, it turns out. ProCharger slapped one of their C8 Corvette Low Profile Systems and its P-1X blower onto the hybrid, all-wheel-drive E-Ray, then proceeded to hit the dyno, where the electrified model laid down a significant 885 horsepower – or, a solid 230 horsepower bump over the stock setup.

Next, the ProCharged Corvette headed out for some acceleration testing to see just how much this new upgrade impacts that particular area. Those results were arguably even more impressive, as the car managed to rip off a 2.0-second flat rip to 60 mph, and that was on pump 93-octane fuel, in 97-degree heat, and on an unprepared stretch of typical asphalt. There’s no doubt that in better conditions, with the addition of some drag radials, or perhaps running E85 on a custom tune, that number will dip even lower.

Even still, when we put that 2.0-second run into perspective, it’s undoubtedly impressive. In fact, that’s quicker than a bevy of pricey hypercars such as the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale, and Lamborghini Revuelto, to name just a few. With the right tire, it’s very likely to hang with or perhaps even beat EVs like the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Lucid Air Sapphire, too. With a starting price of around $105k plus another roughly $20k for the ProCharger upgrade, that makes it one heck of a performance bargain.
