Quality Work on this Custom Firebird Is Nothing Less than Perfection

Custom 1985 Pontiac Firebird

Stunning customization work has turned this 1984 Pontiac Firebird into a masterpiece with a modern take on retro styling cues.

We’ve come across a wide variety of custom body builds at LS1Tech, but by far, this one we found on Hemmings might be the most impressive. It started life as a 1984 Pontiac Firebird, then all of the body was seemingly removed and in its place is this gorgeous “GT” body. Interestingly, the front and sides remind us of a second generation Ford Torino. The rear seems to be inspired by that car as well, or at the very least, heavy Ford influence. Considering how well it comes together, it is impressive that this thing is made out of fiberglass. No panels seem out of place and everything lines up to perfection. Actually, what it really reminds us of is something by Ringbrothers. And believe us, that’s high praise for a vehicle like this.

As your eyes keep discovering new things on the car, you’ll see the “FUEL” door from a modern Mopar, and the multi-spoke wheels used on a number of classic muscle cars in years past. Overall the contrast of blue atop matte black, with silver and yellow accents seems like it would clash horribly on paper. Yet here, it looks stunning.

Modern interpretations of classic design elements transfer to the inside as well. There’s literally nothing inside the car that would let you know it once was a third generation Firebird. The door panels have a chunky strake insert and look to be completely custom made. New door handles and new switchgear is a nice touch as well. The whole dash is new and gauges are presented to the driver in a silver cluster. Really, the only thing that seems out of place on this car are the seats.

Under the hood resides an LT1, and appears to be out of a Caprice or Roadmaster giving this ride a solid 260 horsepower. Cruising around town will be a breeze with an automatic transmission, too. The blue multi-spoke wheels are just a tiny bit too small to be housing anything outrageous in terms of calipers or rotors. No worry, this build seems like it is for show anyway. And what a show car it would be.
