SEMA is all about standing out in a sea of custom cars, and Sony’s wild ’68 Camaro most certainly stands out.

SEMA is a place known for providing a platform for some of the wildest custom builds on the planet. And we here at LS1 Tech have certainly seen our fair share of crazy customs in Las Vegas over the years. But when we stumbled across this insane ’68 Camaro from Sony Car Audio, we immediately wanted to present it with the trophy for nuttiest SEMA ride ever. If there was such a thing, anyway. There’s just so much going on here that it’s hard to determine the proper starting point.

Thus, we’ll begin with the exterior. Like the rest of this Camaro, a ton of time was obviously spent trying to make this look like a new/old vintage ’68. There’s also a fair amount of street rod influence going on here. A heavy dose of ground effects puts this classic square on the ground, planting the ride over its large wheels and Toyo tires. And we”re kind of digging the revised front end, to be honest. The massive rear wing? Eh, not so much.

Peek into the interior, and this car’s street rod influence is quite obvious. Every panel here is clearly custom, wrapped in soft suede and highly stylized. The gauge cluster sits in the center console a la Tesla. And of course, a giant Sony head unit resides right below it. It’s a simple and sanitary design, albeit striking as well.

While the styling of this Camaro is highly subjective, what lies under the hood is not. Everybody loves a modern fuel-injected mill in a classic muscle car, after all. And this one also has a ProCharger hanging off the front of it. There’s no info provided on mods here, but we also spotted a Holly Dominator EFI feeding the beast. And we’re guessing by the custom plates and badges that this Camaro is also all-wheel-drive. Which only raises our curiosity as to what’s going on underneath.

A car like this is bound to draw a reaction, good or bad, and that’s the point, really. SEMA is all about standing out in the massive sea of custom cars, after all. And this Camaro did a nice job of catching our eye. But there’s obviously much more to see. And we’ll be bringing all of it to you as we’re here live in Las Vegas all week!
