It may not be totally stock, but this 20k-mile 1998 Trans Am WS6 is a nice reminder of why we love these cars so much.

As we get older, a lot of things start to change – we don’t have the energy that we used to, though we also typically get a bit wiser, too. However, in the world of automobiles, some models only get better with age, and that’s certainly true of the iconic Pontiac Trans Am WS6 of the last generation for the long-running model. We still celebrate and covet these cars today, a quarter-century or so later, and that’s also true of YouTuber RacerX and this particular 1998 Trans Am WS6, as we can see in this video.

This isn’t just any old Trans Am WS6, however – our host actually used to own something very similar, and recently discovered this example when it popped up for sale at a classic vehicle retailer. This provided him with the perfect opportunity to take at trip down memory lane, a journey that proves quite sweet as the car itself is still every bit as cool as it was all those years ago.

As our host points out, these cars have truly stood the test of time in terms of how its styling has aged, particularly the WS6 and its famous twin-nostril hood. This particular example isn’t totally stock, as it has some aftermarket wheels, dual exhaust, and a unique hood decal in place, but it’s still a fine-looking machine. However, the interior is bone stock, instantly transporting us back to an entirely different era, though in this case, that isn’t always a good thing thanks to an abundance of bargain-bin plastics.

With just 20k miles on the clock, this particular WS6 certainly looks like it could have just rolled off the showroom floor, save for the aforementioned modifications, of course. It’s also still fairly quick by today’s standards, as its LS1 powerplant originally cranked out 305 horsepower and 335 pound-feet of torque. This particular car is fitted with a Vortech supercharger, however, which undoubtedly helps it make more than that.

While others that didn’t grow up in the 1990s and early 2000s may disagree, we – along with our host here – still feel like the Trans Am WS6 is an amazing car that has stood the test of time and is every bit as cool now as it was decades ago. Sadly, however, they’re getting a bit harder to find these days, as this was a fairly rare car to begin with, and many have undoubtedly wound up in the proverbial graveyard. But in our book, at least, that just makes them even more desirable than they already were.
