As I’m sure most of you already know, the satin black panel on the back of some 4th Gen. Camaros, AKA “The Berger Panel”, owes its roots to the big block equipped 1st Gen. Camaros. That’s right, Chevy wanted all of its victims to immediately know they were getting pulled by a big block and all it took was one glance at the big-block only semi-gloss/flat black rear filler panel to know you were in for an a$$-whoopin’!.

Three generations later, during the 4th Gen. F-body’s reign Berger Chevrolet brought the satin black rear panels back to the Camaros and it again became cool. We dug up an old thread with plenty of pics and info in the matter. Are you a fan of the Berger panel? If so, do you prefer the period-correct satin black or the modern rendition in gloss black?
