In this case, I discovered that my passenger door’s lock actuator had given up the ghost when I initially thought it was a bad BCM. Had I taken this to a dealer, I’d have probably shelled out a pretty penny for diagnostics, parts and labor for a 45-min direct-replacement job.
However, bear in mind that the Camaro’s BCM coding is GM proprietary. So while you may be able to control the ECM and TCM regarding idle learn, engine speed and throttle positioning, you will not be able to control the locks, windows, latches or anything else the BCM controls right out of the box.
