New C8 Corvette on fire

Getting a new C8 Corvette is difficult enough and now it looks like we just lost another truckload of them.

The new C8 Corvette has been a hot ticket, but this is ridiculous. A video was recently discovered by the folks at Corvette Blogger. It was posted to the C8 Corvette Owners (and Friends) Facebook page showing a car carrier full of new Corvettes engulfed in flames. The fire occurred about a half hour outside of Nashville, Tennessee. If anyone in the area was expecting delivery of their new Corvette soon, we might have some bad news for you. In the video you can see the cars burning out of control and a team of brave firefighters working to extinguish the blaze.

The video was captured by Corieblue Fickes. Be warned that there is some NSFW language in the clip. However, that is totally understandable. We think anyone would have a few choice words to say if they saw nearly a million dollars’ worth of Corvettes going up in smoke. If you are a Corvette fan, you might want to watch this with one eye closed.

New C8 Corvette fire

Road & Track picked up the story and they got an official statement from a Chevrolet spokesperson: “On Tuesday evening, a hauler carrying a load of new Corvettes caught fire in Tennessee after the driver pulled into a truck stop to investigate an issue with the truck. Fortunately, the driver of the truck is okay. Our vehicle logistics supplier is investigating. As we learn more, we will reach out to affected dealers and customers.”

Fire

Obviously, we are glad that no one was injured in the incident as this was a fairly serious fire. But at the same time, it seems like the C8 Corvette just can’t catch a break. There was of course Covid, and the autoworkers strike, and then the chip shortage. And now a carrier full of the cars goes up in flames. The new Corvette is such a great car it deserves a little better luck than this. Hopefully, the prospective owners that were impacted get the car they ordered without too much of an additional delay. Chances are they have already been waiting a long time for their new ride. If we learn of any additional details regarding this incident, we will be sure to share them with you here.
