‘Whiteout’ Camaro Raises Several Burning Concerns on Style

2017 Chevy Camaro 2SS Whiteout wheels badges for sale at Carmax

Used 2017 Camaro 2SS for sale at Carmax features some interesting blanched-styling choices, including the wheels, grille and badges.

It goes without saying that people do some questionable things to their cars. Not everyone’s flavor aligns with the rest of the world. However, from our end, things could go a lot worse than this one. In contrast to the world of blackout themed vehicles, this Camaro stands out with its own sort of whiteout allure.

In this listing brought to us by Car Gurus, we get the chance to gander at this 2017 Camaro 2SS for sale in San Diego at Carmax. While there isn’t any sort of heinous modifications like a big, cheap aluminum wing, it has some changes some might call questionable. From our end, though, it doesn’t seem too bad. While it may not be the first thing to do on our mod list, we can’t really say it looks all that bad. We have definitely seen worse.

The most outstanding whiteout feature is the wheels. They appear to be stock Camaro wheels with a matte white refinish. Coming in second place for the most obvious modification is the front grille set. Both the upper and lower grille grates are now wearing white to match the rest of the theme. Additionally, the turn signal surrounds also follow suit. The front Chevy badge is, you guessed it, also white.

Bringing things around back finds another whiteout Chevy badge. We’ll admit, though, we had to stare for a moment to realize that the plastic surround around the exhaust tips is also wearing a coat of white paint. It seems, then, they didn’t skip a beat on the dedication to bring the white to the wh0le assembly. It’s a bit ironic, then, that Carmax’s photo area hosts a white background. Though we have to give them some credit, it makes for an excellent environment for, well, just about anything else.

Is it worth what they’re asking?

This 2SS features an automatic transmission, and Carmax has it listed for $31,998. It has a black interior (we were surprised, too) and has only seen 28,756 miles. While that price initially took us back a bit, we weren’t entirely accounting for what 6th gen Camaros are trading for these days. 2017 model year 2SS coupes are pretty consistently listed between $30,000 and $35,000 throughout the country. We suspect that the Camaro being discontinued in a few short years is helping to keep their resale value respectable. If you think about it, only losing around $10,000 worth of value on a brand new Camaro over the course of three years is pretty reasonable.

If this thing tickles your fancy, maybe consider scheduling a test drive at Carmax Kearny Mesa in San Diego. Who knows? Perhaps as the Camaro gets phased out, you could stand to make some money off it eventually. If not, at least you can still enjoy all the good times brought on by a rear-wheel-drive V8 coupe. Can you ever really lose when that is the worst-case scenario?
