Yenko C7 Corvette: Legendary Name, 835 Supercharged Horsepower

Yenko C7 Corvette

SVE revived the iconic Yenko name for a limited run of just 25 high-po C7 Corvettes, and this one’s up for grabs.

Right now, we’re awaiting the paradigm shift that is the mid-engine C8 Corvette. Meanwhile, the C7 continues to languish on dealer lots with big discounts attached. That means, of course, that you can snag a pretty darn good deal on a pretty darn good car right now. Unless you’re talking about this ultra-limited edition Yenko C7 currently up for grabs at Dyer Chevrolet in Vero Beach, Florida that is. But with just 25 total examples produced, that really isn’t all that surprising.

Few names in GM performance history hold the prominence that Yenko enjoys, either. When Don Yenko took over his father’s Chevy dealership back in 1957, it already had a reputation for selling modified vehicles. But it wasn’t until the ’60s when things really took off. Soon, Yenko Camaros, Novas, and Chevelles had a reputation for being some of the quickest rides on the planet.

Fast forward to today, and Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) now owns rights to the Yenko name. Thankfully, they’re doing it justice by cranking out a limited number of high-po Corvettes like this one. This particular car packs a fortified 416 cube LT1 with forged internals and CNC machined heads. But the real power maker is the car’s blower. That custom huffer helps the built engine pump out a healthy 835 hp.

And this particular car is “only” a Stage 1 Yenko. Stepping up to a Stage 2 would net you a nice, even 1,000 ponies. But even in this “mild” guise, the Yenko Corvette is more than capable of gapping even the mighty ZR1. And you can probably bet that you’ll be the only guy in your town who owns one, too. But for muscle car fans, the best thing about this ‘Vette is the fact that it pays proper homage to one of the greatest legends in GM performance history.
