Just like it happened back in the 1940s, America has a way of showing the Germans how it’s done. Drag times has arrived with a new video that has a great pair of races. The party starts with a BMW charging out against a Mercedes C63 AMG. Both of these machines are tuned with the BMW rocking 800 horsepower and the Mercedes rolling around with 700 angry ponies. The lights drop and the Mercedes charges ahead to the win. But that is not the end. Now its time for America to arrive and prove how things are done. Enter the modified 900 horsepower Corvette ZR1.

As the monster Corvette rolls up to the line it lets out a great big burnout to warm up those drag radials before lining up. This time when the lights drop, there is a different story for the Mercedes. The Corvette roars off the line and pulls a lead that it never surrenders. The Mercedes stood no chance.

It was a little unfair with the Corvette’s power advantage and low weight, but the low weight and ability to produce immense power is the whole reason we love the Chevy small block to begin with. It’s not our fault that Mercedes builds fat cars with heavy, under-powered motors.
