I think I'm more impressed you got 10.8 with a 2.0 60. **** your back half was only 3.6 sec
Yeah, it took a little while, but once the ole girl started pulling I wasn't about to let off, lol. This car goes smooth and straight, unlike the last car I had, a tubbed out 69 Camaro, which was always a handful.
My manual boost controller was having issues, and kept letting the wastegate blow open at the top of 1st gear or just into 2nd...I then "wrongly" connected it to the TOP of the gate, which made "all the boost", and pushed out a head gasket going through the traps. In the video, you can just barely see the big puff right before you hear the blowoff.
The car has a Jakes 4L80E w/D3 transbrake, but still running a stock rear, so for now, I just went ahead and got a 2 step, so I can at least have some boost on launch. Hoping that preloaded rear will hopefully allow it to last a little while...I have one spare rear, then once that HAS to be swapped in, I'll give in and get a 9" or 12 bolt or whatever...

lucky man - or very conservative timing
It was more like 21-22# with 16 degrees of timing.
I'd lean more towards the lucky side, since I only pushed out a head gasket on 1 cylinder, and didn't damage the head or the block.
The previous owner had the car dynotuned and they obviously relied a LOT on the methanol. I'm changing that.
I already did some tune changes, mainly to fatten it up, so it's fairly safe if the methanol acts up in the future, and also took a few degrees of timing out. I also now run a air regulator style boost controller, finally plumbed correctly, so I can actually adjust boost, instead of having 6 or 22 psi, lol...
I used the LS9 gaskets (copper sprayed) and ARP headstuds. I want the car to have a much safer tune, and am willing to give up some HP to do that. I don't/won't have a rollbar, so I'll have to dial it back a bit and run 11.50's anyway...Although, I would like to make another Hail Mary pass this season...22#, Methanol, and a tankful of 110...
BUT...I have a bad back and am 100% sure I don't want to do head gaskets again, anytime soon, lol.
Here's the same pass, taken by someone else...(you can definitely see the POOF on this one, lol)
Cause its not a chevelle and I have your rear anti roll bar. Stop selling all your good parts and you will go fast LMAO. Seem like its a real turd off the line to almost 330ft?

Chevelles were so, ahh, 6 months ago...
Hey Steve...still on jackstands? lol.
Definitely a turd out of the hole...I have plenty of time to make a sandwich, but after 330', you better chew fast...lmao.
I have ZERO boost at the starting line. I'm hoping the 2 step will allow that to change, without being too hard on the 7.5. Once I find a reasonably, and realistically priced rear, then I can use the transbrake AND 2 step...for a while.

S480 in that chevelle with a brake and call it a day. That will be my next setup someday. My chevelle is always on jackstands for some reason or another. This off season im throwing the kitchen sink at it

My Chevelle is LOOOOONNNNGGGG gone my friend.
The old 439 needed freshening up, and rust was spreading like crazy, so...
Traded it for an old 8 second mini-tubbed Nova and some cash,
Then traded the Nova for an 8-71 blown Pro Street 69 Chevelle,
Then traded that for a Pro Street 69 Camaro with 2 kits, then...
Here we are...with a 2000 WS6, with a KPERacing built 6.0, Frankenstein Trick Flow heads, 76mm Precision turbo, methanol, 4l80e, etc...
My old back can't handle the tubbed out, rollcaged cars...
Ok after seeing all the cool cars you had!! Now you're slumming it? No offense to each their own but I liked all the cars but the camaro was cool..not a street car i gather? Sounds like what the other guy said. You need a brake or a two step minimum

I'm thinking some of you are not even reading the thread, lol...
I already do have a Jake's D3 transbraked 4L80E, with a multidisc lockup converter...but have a stock rear. I do have aftermarket axles and a girdle, but am not ever going to try a trans brake launch until I have a beefier, built aftermarket rear...
I now also have an MSD 2 step, so I can at least leave the line with "some" boost, as opposed to none....like in the videos.
No idea if you've ever owned a rubbed car, but all 3 after the Chevelle were older builds and drove and handled horribly...I re-injured my back in the Camaro climbing in and out of it.
I've had over 100 cars, and would gladly choose this WS6 over any of the ones pictured above...its not the "quickest" yet, due to the no boost launches, but is quite easily the fastest of the whole group....shoot, if I would have locked the converter in 3rd, probably would have easily went 140 mph...and smooth and straight as an arrow doing so.
Combine that fact with the ability to drive it anywhere, getting double the MPG of the best one above, in a car that pulls, drives, and handles better than any of them ever dreamed they could, I'm quite pleased with "slumming it"...
Having been there and done that multiple times, having a car that is pretty damn fast, looks good, and is able to be driven by anyone, is a welcome change.
