a friend of mine has a 98 camaro with a m-6. the only mods he has is a cam ( i dont know the exact size but he said it was alittle smaller than the T-rex). he also has some weight reduction done to the interior. he insists that it will run low 10's on a slick and cam only? would it be possible to run low 10's on the same combo with a built rearend? also how much power do you think it will make? The driver is also inexperienced and never raced a 6-speed.

 

ok well Ill be the first to laugh. Why? The fastest cam only car is on thunders web sight. Just click under the t-rex cam for "track proven performance" and you will see what it takes to run LOW 10's with a cam only. And the guy that has the record is a damn good driver

 

Sub 3000 lb, Large cusotom cam, full bolt on, w/ a 456 gear? what would you say to that

 

med. size cam , min. bolt ons and 410 gears is more like it, on a car with 140,000 miles without a rebuild is more like it

 

 

YOu havent been around complete stock engine rebuild,dur @ .050 240/248 .600/.612 110+4LSA Cam Motion profile. 4.10 gears in the stock 10 bolt right now yes, but will be putting in some 12 bolt w/ a 4.56

Straight LT's, Intake, 160 T-stat, Pulley, LCAs short throw Textralia clutch, 28.8# fuel injectors, sub 3000 lb weight reduction

 

Well Smokin01T/A and myself have the #1 and #2 Cam only M6's. Smokin went a 10.28@131 and I went a 10.30@130mph. It is very possible but our cars are really light. Mine weights 3140 with me in it and I weigh 280lbs. My car also made 463rwhp thru a cam, slicks and 9" rearend with 4.70 gears. It is very possible but he will sacrafice some streetability. Our cams are fairly large (not speaking for Rodney but I know mine is a little larger than his).

Isn't Sean aka Juggernaut the actual #2 or atleast former #2 holder w/ the 10.29 sec 1/4 or does he no longer count since he put the heads on his car?
All said and done, its alot of work, alot of weight reduction, and thr right combination of parts. itll take some good effort to catch you guys but it is possible, and definitely able to see mid 10's reachable.

 

He is no longer on the list so I am not sure. I can have sworn he had an automatic in the car but I could be mistaken. Here is how the #1-4 list is right now.

That's right he is an Automatic my mistake. If i'm also not mistaken Rodney has a proshifted Tranny, but then again i could be completely wrong.

 

Yes he does have a proshifted tranny. I do as well. I just changed it over to proshifted not long ago and really am really happy. It is great for drag racing but not street driving.

The M6 was becoming a problem.For as much as I race, I love the TH 400.It lasts
250 passes( a whole season) and never a missed shift.

 

I wanna see this car when it comes out...I've read alot about cam only cars being pretty quck, but I've never seen one up close getting down.

Who did your trans? I'm looking for a local guy with a decent price, otherwise I'll send it to LS1joe.

LS1 Joe is a excellent tranny builder from my understanding, Chuck from FLT is one of the best, and Rodney from RPM transmissions is another excellent builder, both in IL. Some of the biggest names i've seen around. I can get you a few hookups jsut let me know.

I need my trans built but i figure get my rear taken care of right away. then go to the trans. lots of money i'm going to need to put down to get this where i want it to go. and the way i want it to drive.
