LT-1 intake on LT-4 heads?

LT-1 intake on LT-4 heads?
Does a LT-1 intake fit on a set of LT-4 heads? im thinking of getting the AFR 227cc heads and it says needs a LT-4 equivalent intake for them, so does am I able? if thats not going to work what is a good intake to get? Thanks

Also, depending on what you actually plan to do with the motor, you may not even need those heads. Could probably get away just fine with LE2 or LE3 ported heads.

There are VERY few cases where those heads are going to be useful. Are you looking to spin a large displacement motor beyond 7500rpms? if so maybe then think about them if not then you need to go back to square one and rethink things a whole lot.
An LT1 intake would likely need a little material added on top of the ports to allow port matching and still maintain a good sealing margin above the port. Very small and easy to deal with detail; compared to building the rest of a car that could actually use this head.

Funny thing is those who have tried the LT1 intake and hell even the LT1 heads on strokers even those spinning over 7000rpms have good results.
If you decided on the AFR 227s for a little 383 then you are probably paying too much attention to bench racers and not enough to real racers.
Only "LT1" I know of sucessfully running that head is an aftermarket block converted to LT1 434ci and boost run right up to the pcm's capabilities. The boost, the rpms and the rather large displacement make them work OK you might have the rpms but are lacking the other details. Pick a different head. IMO AFR is more reputation than result anyway.

The bolt pattern and the port layout on the LT1 and LT4 intakes are the same, though most people think the LT4 ports are higher. Those people haven't compared them side-by-side.
However, one distinct difference is that the LT4's have A LOT more material above the port. The AFR 210/220/227 have larger openings than stock. Any LTx intake manifold will need to be opened up to match. I may be wrong, but it's very possible that the LT1 intake doesn't even cover the top of the head port and, therefore, won't even seal up.

The port it self is the same. GM never came out with a full on LT4 intake for production becaus ethe LS1 showed up.
The extra material over the port is to seal the smaller LT1 port to the larger LT4 port in the head. If you use a LT1 intakeyou will need to add that matterial as mentioned.
BTW I know a few people using the bigger heads making bigger power. You just have to toss the LTx intake from what I hear Boost will work with any thing if done right I am talking Natual power.

I would also suggest going single plane, instead of the LTx breadbox. Especially if you are looking to get the most out of the heads.
This is what I went with on my 396 w/AFR Heads
Ported Edelbrock Vic-E and fuel rails
860 Performance Elbow
These allow you to reuse the LT1 TB and all the OEM connectors and TB cable
and they performed quite well

I am running a BBK 58mm...the elbow will work with any LTx based TB, 48, 52, 58 & mono.
Any machine shop should ba able to handle that for you....I suggest having the heads redrilled for the SBC bolt pattern. This would allow you to change manifolds at a later dat and not have to pay for the new one to be converted.

My heads have both the LT1 and the SBC pattern......I can use any LTx or SBC intake and can swap between them pretty quick.
As soon as I get mine back together, I will be looking for some loaner intakes to do back to back dyno testing with. Hope to get a ported LT1, ported Edelbrock, and my single plane. I will post up when I am ready to do this, I will be looking for someone to loan me the intake and possible donations to help cover dyno time and gasket costs.
