Default Borla vs. GMMG

Just wanting to know who has them, or has had both...

whats the HP gain difference between them... and which one do you prefer, sound wise? my dads '93 T/A has borla, and it sounds so ******* sick... but i have heard GMMG and it sounds pretty sweet also.

http://www.youtube.com/user/thor294 for GMMG clips!

I'd recommend GMMG all the way! IMO Borla is just a really expensive cutout.

It honestly sort of is, although IMO the Borla w/ an open plate sounds MEAN under WOT, yet still being somewhat civilized just cruising unlike open headers..

I havent got the chance to hear and LT1's with GMMG, so my vote for Borla is going off of that.. They are both great systems and i'm sure you will be happy with either one in the end.

I've had both. Still have the GMMG now as a matter of fact and sounds like POOH w/ out cats. Cats? The borla didn't sound bad at all w/ or w/ out cats but was a bit too raspy for my tastes on the decel. I'm selling my GMMG in about 2 mos too w/ less than 1000 miles on it as the neighborhood I'm moving into has HOA. I'll be looking for a 4" or 3.5 system w/ single hideaway tip.

I've never been real impressed with Borla myself. I had GMMG on my old car and nothing I mean nothing compares.

I just cant see spending 1k on an cat back. Hooker on an lt1 sounds great and order an electric cutout and still be under a 1k.

The first mods I did when I bought the car was the adj.Borla catback and the Callaway Honker(now known as the Moroso cold air intake), back in 1995. Bought the Borla directly from them, at that time no one carried them yet. So, to me, Borla is the best sounding catback that I've heard on an LT1.

i had borla on my Z for about 2 years, loved how it sounded @ idle, but cruising around it sounded choppy IMO (i had the rear tips cut off) but on decelleration it sounded bad, i have GMMG on now and its nowhere near as good of sounding at idle but its much more louder and a smoother sound and i love it. i reccomend gmmg

i have a GMMG but have been around allot of people with Borla, and Magnaflow as well as the LM. The Borla and LM were way to loud and not clean sounding with an ORY. With a catted y the borla sounded better but the LM was nasty still. I have heard many people say that the GMMG is for catted Y people only, and i believe them. My GMMG sounds awesome and no matter how hard i punch the pedal it is loud and clear. The magnaflow is a real good catback as well and is cheaper and is a full tone exhaust with little to no rasp. look on ls1sounds.com, for ideas.

I'm running the borla with an open cutout behind hooker headers and it's very manageable at low rpm's....over 4,000 when the stall locks up it's a whole different story. At 6k plus no matter how high the stereo is turned up, the borla is all i hear.

I loved the Borla sound when I had a cat. Now with the cat gone and Kooks headers, ORY it has a loud "crack" at higher rpms. I now run one of the middle plates to settle this down.

I voted for the GMMG, but you should expand your choices to include CORSA. My premium 3.5" twin tip sounds real mean when you get into it. FLP 1 3/4" LT's, FLP y-pipe with off-roads and CORSA premium 3.5" twin tip. If your going to choose between the two you have listed for sure get the GMMG, pure sex on a LT1, especially with LT's

my friends borla on his ls1 and ory sounded like poo. He switched to hooker catback. I have duals w/ powersticks which is basically the same muffler that comes on gmmg...I love chambered mufflers

I was going to change my Borla out for a GMMG because I've had the Borla forever and I was bored. About 3 weeks ago I was at work outside and my friend was moving the car for me. He fired it up and I could have sworn I felt the ground shake ....needless to say that alone made me stick with the Borla. I run open plate with a Magnaflow cat.
