Went to the track got new best
Went to VMP for opening day test and tune. Weather was in the 50s and sunny. Opened the cutout, pulled the air filter and went to the staging lanes.
First pass was a 12.34@114.95 with a 1.977 60' time.
Second pass was 11.999@114.xx with a 1.842 60' time.
Third pass was 11.872@114.xx with a 1.780 60' time.
Those passes were on my Beidgestone radials. Had a buddy there who swapped wheels and tires with me. He has BFG drag radials 315/35 17s on 01 SS wheels.
Made a pass, didn't hear the tires enough spun bad, so I just part throttled to a 14.4. Went straight back to the staging lanes. After waiting about 20 min made another run. Heated those bastards good this time.
Went 11.700@114.72 with a 1.58 60' time. Car is running good but doesn't want to shift to 3rd if it hooks well. Must of hung on the rev limiter for a full second on the 2-3 shift. All in all a decent day out, but has some improvement to be had with some trans work.

yeah that's a damn good 60' especially on those tires, lol, sounds like your clutch pack is going just like mine is, those 4l60e's are notorious for that, can't wait to put a TH400 in it

I launched at 2800 with the drag radials. On street tires I was just leaving at 2000 and easing into it. On the 11.70 run it ran 7.36@89.9 at the 1/8th.

Mine was doing the same thing. turned out it was sucking the transmission pan dry before the 2-3 shift. Filled it 1/2 qt over the full line and the problem went away. Usually happens worse if you are racing in D instead of OverDrive, correct?

I would also assume it doesn't do it on the street. Looks like you might be saving the cost of a rebuild. We plan on putting a deeper transmission pan on ours eventually. Good luck.

Nice times man. I was having issues with shifting as well running it in D, i started running it in OD since its fine on the street like that and it never hits the limiter now.

I am wondering how much the bad 2-3 shift was hurting my et and mph. I **** you not, on the 11.70 pass it must have sat on the limiter for a second or two, before it shifted to 3rd.
I will let you guys know if leaving in OD cures my issue. I hope so, would rather not have to rebuild the trans yet.

It cured mine but track prep was bad so my 60ft was off and we had a 20mph head wind so i didnt go any faster. I was hitting the limiter on the 1/2 shift and the 2/3 shift on my 11.54 run. I have heard of ppl picking up around 2 tenths once they got the issue worked out.

I looked back at my slips and noticed I made a pass of 11.999 w/ a 1.84 60'. My 1/8 mph was 91.5 compared to 89 on the 11.70 run. It hit the limiter on the 2-3, but it did it real quick and shifted, unlike laying on the limiter on the 70 pass. 2 tenth a sounds likely, but was just wondering. I guess we shall see.

Wheel spin accounted for your mph increase judging by your differences in 60 ft. times. Over fill it a bit, hook good enough to pull off another 1.5 60 ft. and you should see 11.50 somethings assuming the da is about the same. I'm guessing high 50's by your mph.

It's either inconsistencies due to low trans fluid lvl combined with changes in traction, or it's pulling timing. I think. Just your 60 ft improvement should have put you in the in the low 11.5's

Trans was tuned by Frost and nothing has changed since then, only been a few months. As for tire size difference, not real sure, but it did it with both my street tires and the drs I ran. Never done it on the street, but never hooked either. Like I said it was worse the better the 60' time was. So, even on a 1.97 it did it, on a 1.58 it laid on the limiter longer. I didn't let off for it to shift, I just kept my foot in it, so it's shifting and really doesn't feel like its slipping after the shift, just taking too long to shift.
I am going to check the fluid lvl and overfill a touch as was stated. I am also going to try to replicate on the street by driving in D, since I never do that and it hasn't done it on the street in OD. If it does, then I will know just leave it in OD at the track. Don't know why that would make a difference, but crazier **** has been known to happen.
