Exclamation still no 10s yet :-\

so brief history. 01 trans am that was a max effort build that belong with my late baby brother who past away 4 years ago this wednesday. heres a low down of the build when he ran a PB 11.3@122 (cant recall sixty footer):
sbe 5.7 with ms4 cam
semi-built 4l60e with 4k stall
moser 12 bolt 3.73
qa1 struts IIRC
steel driveshaft
AFR heads
fast 92 with NW throttlebody
tuned by j.formato
full weight ~3600lbs

after his passing and i inherited the car there were a slew of things that broke down such as dropped lifter and had to replace all lifters and cam (bought a another ms4 cam out of respect for my brother), replaced the oem balancer with a sfi dampner. sheared the input shaft on the 4l60e and replaced it with a TH400 with a 3600 stall w/transbrake and retuned myself.
went to cecil dragway this past saturday for the last TnT. only got 2 runs in as it was packed.
1st run
1.7 sixty and i believe 7.3@97 1/8 and 11.4@122
2nd run
1.6 sixty and roughly 7.4@95 1/8 and 11.5@119
vid of the 2nd run

what else can i do to get closer and break 10s? (no nitrous btw lol)

What are you shifting at?

Any traction issues?

my shift light is set at 6800.....my fuel cut off rpm was set at 7100....traction issues i dont think so? my sixty foot's ~1.6-1.7 and am running MT ET streets aired down to ~15psi

edit-in the vid, i shifted to 2nd prematurely before the shift light came on. the 2-3 upshift was me being too slow and took a bit too long and i believe hit fuel cut at the 7100 RPMs.

Have you tried shifting it around 6500? I would.

Also where you stage in the beams affects your ET. Next time out roll into the prestage beam and stop. Then bring your rpm up a bit and slowly bump the car into the stage beam trying to barely turn the bottom bulb on.

What wheel and tire combo?

MS4 cam is 239/242/111 so it probably wants to be shifted around there maybe even a little higher.

Without knowing much else about your combo I'd pull all the seats out of it and run skinnies.

If you had a 1.5 60ft time you would be at 10.9.... so you need to simply get the short time down. Also try to drop 150-200lbs off that car which shouldn't be too hard.
What are the RPM drops between shifts?

wheels are 17" vette replicas, the 5 spoke ones. 275/45/17 fronts and 315/45/17 rears. 26" tall tires roughly.

I think you need weight reduction and more converter.

I went 10.92@122 1.48, combo was really set up for nitrous:

5.7 LS6, flat tops
TFS 215s
LS2 intake (not the best)
1 3/4 headers, short exhaust dumped, dynomax bullets
T400
4800 converter
4.10
Skinnies, 26" bias ply fronts
28x10.5 slicks, 15x10s
3200 r/w

10.008@134 1.35 on 150 shot

You'd bump into the beams with your brake pedal.

I think it needs more rpm on the shifts and more converter. At that weight with a 1.6x 60ft you're not going to make 10s unless you pick up a lot on the back half. IMO. what is the air induction setup, a lid ?

I agree with this, with the MS4 I would say 7200 -7500 rpms and 4000 - 4500 converter

I concur with more converter as well to get the 60' down and lessen the RPM drop on the gear changes.

heavy wheels
a drag pack could take 2 or 3 tenths off for you

I believe its the chris1313 ram Air setup. Before the th400 it had a 4k stall behind the 4l60e. That was awful driving on the freeway.

You should do the chris1313 pro stock version. i kept my ac also. my car picked up 5mph in the 1/4 over the ram air from the bottom with a lid.

Sounds like you had a converter with no lockup in the 4l60e. that would suck imo.

the lockup was working, it was rather a looser converter. i did see pics of the chris1313 pro stock version. its the intake pipe that goes from the throttlebody angled downward towards the bumper correct?

Yeah. I ran mine straight out the front bumper. that way, if I wanted to cover it. I just put my filler panel back on.
