Default Running 11's now

Last night I finally hit 11's at Maple Grove. My best run of the night was an 11.803@118.24. I had a 1.701 60' so hopefully if I can get that a tad bit better I should be seeing an 11.7 next weekend. Mods are in sig. I ditched the 18" drag radials and put a set of Mickey Thompson ET Streets on. Those made a big difference over the radials. I got to play around more with them and see what works best with those tires. 1st run I had them a tad high and it spun some of the line but it still managed a 1.787 60'.

I'm running LG's G5x4cam with bone stock heads. The only thing not stock on the heads is the vavle springs for obvious reasons, but other than that I never had them milled. That cam seems to pull pretty decent up top.

Congatulations. Nice numbers. What tire pressure are you running on your ET Streets? I have the Radial version and I'm thinking around 14psi.

It was a 99 red z28 with 69 emblems factory hood yet. It had black z06wheels on the front and and I was running the factory 16's on the back with MT ET's.

My tire guage was junk so I don't know exact pressure,it kept reading different everytime I would put it on, but I was shooting for under 10psi. When I was lowering the pressure I looked from behind to see how the tire was sitting on the ground.

I also got a good tire guage on Wednesday from Snap-on. Checked the pressure I had in the MT's and they were at 12psi. So tonight I'm gonna drop them alittle bit more and try launching alittle higher as well.

Went to the track last Friday and heres' 3 new runs I got in.I ran 4 times but the 4th was a disaster more or less. The 4th run requires me to get the 1/4panel and frame fixed now due to getting out of the groove. At least the guys at the track said I got out of the groove, it happend so fast I couldn't tell you exactly why the car just darted off to the other lane.
Run 1
60'---1.659
330--4.886
1/8--7.549
mph--92.90
1000-9.840
1/4--11.750
mph--118.77

Run 2
60'---1.672
330--4.884
1/8---7.547
mph--92.46
1000--9.833
1/4--11.741
mph--118.84

Run3
60'---1.715
330--4.923
1/8--7.584
mph--92.33
1000--9.874
1/4--11.789
mph--118.24

Good runs, it looks like things were coming together for you. So what happened, you crossed into the other lane and hit the wall...another car..what? That really sucks regardless. What size ET streets were you running?

Yeah it just suddenly let loose , I was in the right lane. I ended up weaving in and out of both lanes and just smacked the back of the quarter panel on the drivers side. The other car I raced was slow ,so by the time this happend I already had a half track lead on him. If the track would've been about 2 feet or so wider the car would be fine. As for the tire size , I'm running 28/11.50/16's.

I'm sorry to hear that. I wonder if maybe it was something else that caused the issue, besides getting out of the groove. Perhaps some oil on the track, or suspension failure of some sort.

Yeah, I have no clue. Others thought maybe the same thing. Suspension looks all good. I don't know if maybe the left rear tire grew enough and caught the bumper cover. I see a slight line in that tire but haven't determined the actual cause yet. The rear seems to feel like it binds up a little only when you pull out and are turning. Once straight though it feels great. I don't know if a slightly bent frame rail on the drivers side is causing that or not. I'll find out once it gets straightend. Then if it's still there I'll pull the cover off and look into things deeper. I'm just happy I didn't hit the wall head on. It was looking like that was gonna be the case that night but managed to steer away. My Sunoco hood arrived 4 days later. Knowing my luck I would've went head first into the wall if that was on the car.

Bryan Herter from PcmForless tuned it. I honestly don't know what he set the timing at. I could probably put the car our shops Snap-on scanner and see where it's at.
