Default Going to route 66 tuesday, trying for 11's?

I have a 1999 z28 with Patriot heads, cam, headers, loadmouth ex,and some other bolt on stuff for traction. Stock rearend as far as I know. The car ran 1274 three weeks ago when the temperture was 96 degrees on street tires. I bought some nitto drag radials so i think i'm on right track. Also i had 2.07 60 ft times and at 108 mph. Does anyone think my car can go high 11's? If not what else do I need? Gear? One more thing when the car shifted from third to forth I had to let of the gas so it would shift. Whats all that about?

A heads cam ls1 should pull into the 11's. Do you have stock stall and gears? That can realy hold you back.

I have a 3500 stall. The gear ratio, I don't know what it is. i think its stock. On the highway at 2000 rpm the cars doing 70 mph. I'm having the car dynoed at speed inc. tommorow at 1:00pm. I should know when I'm done what the rwhp is and the gear ratio is. If i don't get into the 11's Tuesday I'm going to put a 410 gear in and see if that will do it. Any other ideas out there please let me know. I want my car to run 11's so real bad.

3rd t0 4th unless that car has 4.30 or lower gears and a 4400 stall there is no way you should need overdrive.....no way espeacialy a heads and cam car....

I just got back from having my car chasis dynoed. Rear wheel hp was 392 at 6700 rpm. Can the 392 rear wheel hp be converted to motor hp? Is 392 hp enough to run 11's? Please tell me the truth.

If you get the car to hook you should have no problems getting into the 11s. I make 333hp/327tq and I run 11s in this heat with just boltons, stock cam, heads, and internals.

Hey Matt I see your from New Lenox. Do you race at route 66? I live in oak forest. I would like to see your car some day. Your post reads 2007 Joliet EFI # Qualifier. Thats cool. Also your a retired street racer. How long have you been retired? I'm going to try for 11's again on the 18th at route 66 maybe I'll see you there.

Yeah I live on the border of Joliet & New Lenox. Route 66 is less than two miles from my house and I race there most of the time. I used to street race all of the time but wrecked my old Camaro last year and decided to keep it on the track full time. I run the NMCA Late Model EFI class, and ocassional brackets class. The car will be down in Memphis for the LSX Shootout as well, running in the index class. I'm not sure if I'll be there on the 18th or not. I have to see what the weather is like and go from there.

Matt, good luck at the LSX shootout. I hope you kick butt!. I think I'm a little older then you but I also used to street race. I had a big block 68 chevelle and used to race on bell road and 107th street. now i have two sons that i'm trying to keep from street racing. One has a 1980 camaro z28 and the other has a 1989 formula with a 383 stroker motor. Didn't mean to bore you with all the details. Anyway since I bought my Camaro I still can't get over how fast these cars can be. Its truly amazing. Any ideas on what nitrios system to buy? Hope to meet you someday, I know i could learn alot from you. Thanks

Thanks man, the shootout is going to be one hell of a competition, I can't wait. Yeah, hopefully your kids listen and don't street race. It is not what it used to be, that's for sure.

As far as a nitrous system, I always recommend the Nitro Dave's plate system. He is a sponsor and can hook you up with everything you need. Make sure you get all of the fuel system upgrades so you don't run into problems.

Hope to meet up with you too. I'll try and make it to 66 on the 18th, as long as it isn't 90* degrees outside.

I have a good nitrous kit for an LS1. A 5177 NOS dry kit.

You should hit the 11's no problem. I live in the area along with Mr Matt, I will keep an eye out for your car.. Good luck

Walker94z28 Funny you should mention that you have a NOS 5177 nitrious kit. The same kit was on my car but was taken off before it was sold to me. I know its the same one because he left the papers on it in the glove box. Do you want to sell it? I would be interested if your looking to sell it. I'll be at route 66 on Tuesday for test and tune. I think its the last Tuesday there going to be racing. It's my last chance of the year to run in the 11's. ( fat chance ). My car is blue with blue ghost flames.
