Should I be happy with 12.99?
I went to the track for the very first time last Friday. I have a 01 Z28 Mystic Teal A4 with 81k miles
The only thing I did to it was 180 degree stat, slp lid, bassini off road y pipe, hooker muffler hooked to stock I pipe and Predator programming. I removed the air cleaner at the track also. My brother swears this is good for a 10th. I also had the bottom of the air box cut out.
I lowered the shift times by 25% in the predator. I had cheapo sumitomo tires on the back with stock snowflake wheels.
This was my very first time racing. I took instructions from my brother on how to launch etc.
First run I didn't launch at all and ran a 14.43 @104 mph
Second run I ran 13.02 @ 107.72 mph That was with a 2.058 60ft
3rd run was actual racing so I dialed it in at 12.99. I redlighted and ran a exact 12.99. My muffler came loose mid track so that might have helped. We don't know my mph because the guy in the booth lost my slip while I was picking up my muffler. It looked to be close to 108-109 on the speedo as I was crossing the traps. I was just happy to hit 12.99 my first time out. I would still like to kill the guy for losing my slip.
I am kind of wondering what to do next to get it even faster for next year with minimal work. I was looking at yank converters and maybe a ported throttle body. Any suggestions?

I am trying to stay away from LTs until I am ready for them and can afford a good set. I bought the bassini ory to last until I could afford a decent set of LTs and had the time to put the car on my brothers lift up north to install them.
I drove 400 miles to race at my hometown track and then 400 miles back. lol So I am usually only there a day or two at most when I visit.

you should be pretty happy with a time in the 12's for a non-experienced racer
get a set of pacesetter coated LT's from a sponsor on here for about $375-400 shipped, then get some tires and have fun.

Nice runs. Congrats
Are you shitting me with the title? No one is ever satisified with 12's. My SS started off as a 14 second, totally stock 98. Just a few minor changes, 7 years of TLC and I'm in the 8's
Go for it. But remember I warned you not to start mod'ing your street car.
If you have not submitted for your title change, you can do so by following the instructions in the sticky at top of this Section.

Thats a pretty good time for the mods. Do you have 3.23 gears? I would say go stall/DR if you want to get well into the 12's.
Yeah, I freaking missed it by .06 and haven't had a chance to make it back to the track in this cooler weather to break into the 12's.

I am trying to get into the twelves. Not sure what I run now, but I am about to put a set of pacesetter lt's, an ory, some mt et streets, 3,42 gears, and a tune from texas speed. My car has the stock 2.73 in it. Damn well better hit twelves then. So yeah be happy, but if you want more, go for it.

Don't worry about the proted TB, it won't do anything for you spend the money on something else. Just mod the TB using these directions as posted on here and you will get just as much. You don't need to port it, the throttle adjustment does mor ethan anything.

I am also sorry to say that you need some LT's. I have the pacesetters and they are the easiest install ever - just be sure to cut the casting tab off on the driver side on the block!
You will be solid in the 12's if you get some LT's and a converter. I would get something like a 3500-3800 stall. Don't forget the tires!

Thanks for the info. I am all about saving money. I will be LTs over the winter hopefully. I do have access to a lift so that will make it a whole lot easier.
Yeah I have 3:23. I will be switching them out for 3:73s sometime down the road. I want 3:73s just for funner street driving. The extra 10th or so I may pick up will be a bonus.
