12.85@107 First Time Out
Hey everyone. I just made my 1st runs at the dragstrip last night. I was running 13.0 pretty consistently. Then on my 8th run of the night I finally hit the 12s. Temp was high 80's to low 90's.

12.8516 1/4 ET
107.22 1/4 MPH
Mods are bolt-ons minus pulley, 3.42 gears, 3600 stall on a 4L80E, basic tune. I was running full weight with street tires near the end of their life. I see people with 4L60Es trapping higher and getting better times with bolt-ons. I'm guessing it must be due to the taller 1st gear and added weight of the 80. I was really happy to hit 12s on my 1st time out though. That was my goal. I'm still trying to get the reaction time down. My best was .3371.
I'm thinking of replacing the rears with some Nitto 555Rs. I hear they make a decent street/strip tire. This is a DD. The only thing I'm worried about is breaking the 10 bolt, but I've got a 2.73 spare at the house.

with drag radials youll speed up a lot, I had better luck time wise to floor it from an idle and let my stall flash up. I blew my rearend up a few times and went from 3.73s to 3.42s, so far in the crappy weather im getting 1.84 60's

I'm planning on the Nittos soon to replace the worn out rears. I'm hoping that a 9 inch rear is in my future soon, so I don't have to worry about breaking the 10 bolt. I really don't want to go back to the 2.73s in my backup!
I'm definitely glad I kept running. I almost did give up too early to see the 12s!

decent times for your first time out. seems like your falling off a little bit on the top end though, no doubt to the gears and tranny. i'm .3 slower in the 1/8th and .2 in the 1/4th but same trap??? Do you have a ftra or ssra?
I see your from VA what track did you go to?

I bought an 2002 ws6 last weekend and ran it friday. Went straight from the street to tech and stagging lanes not even turning it off. Threw my helmet on and went 13.52 at 102. Then altenator went bad. DAMNIT! car has a flowmaster, k&n, slp airlid. Is that time normal for this car?

In an auto I would not worry about the 10 bolt that much. Its the shock that kills the rearend. In an auto the rear gets much more of a pre-load then an m6. I have a couple friends with stalled autos and stock rear in the 11s.
Also when you plan to upgraded just get a 12 bolt because there are many 8 to 9 sec cars running a 12 bolt with no prob. PLUS the 12 bolt uses much less HP to turn then a 9 inch.

i agree, you may already be doing this but my best so far is a .034, unless you're racing competitively I wouldn't sweat the R/T, it's not like it effects your time. On the 12 bolt vs. 9 inch, I would recommend 9" for DD. I have both rears and the 9" is nice and quiet. 12 bolt is noisey and whiney. Both are pretty tough.

I haven't really seen much point in going 12 bolt, so I'm definitely planning on a 9 inch. I don't trust the 10 bolt at all. I had an A4 LT1 car prior to this one and never took it to the track and the 10 bolt didn't last.

those street nights are fun, to many civics and ricers and **** though. bolt-on fbody are some of the fastest cars there, minus the big boys who are still street legal. too bad i work evenings i used to go every friday last summer.
is that "stock intake" a ls6 or ls1? if so definitely pickup one up and some type of ram air, there is definitely some top end left in it.
