Yea I hear ya. I know what your saying but your not giving anykind of concrete answer to why you dont like them? Is it because when you buy X brand, the stall speed is higher than advertised?
I have to admit, I maybe one of those "nutswingers" after I get one installed lol
But Im really just wondering why you choose X over yank?

OP sorry buddy

Op start tracking your DA and see what happens. I definatly think your car gained a better time.

Also they seem to be very efficient which is a huge plus.
Only reason I can see anyone bashing on yank converters is if they started out with a X brand 3600 stall, then went to a yank 3600 which gave them a worse 60' just because X brand wasnt really a 3600 stall and more like a 4000.
From all the research its a no brainer that Yank sounds like the over all best.
You are very close to why I don't consider them the best. Yank makes a product they guarantee, you usually don't get anything extra. By extra I don't mean stall speed.. I mean I rarely see a sixty time that is well above what it should be and it be a yank.
Ptc impresses me 8/10 times. Vig is hit or miss, usually really awesome or not so awesome. Haha
I would explain better but on the phone and dont feel like texting all of it Haha

My ptc flashes almost exactly to 4000, good extensions and is tight around town. Not boot under 500 shipped brand new.

A nutswinger is someone who has not researched, has not owned the brands being discussed, etc etc... but will back X product til the day they day. That is what irritates me with some people on here with yank. ****, they could stop advertising. They make a good converter but not so good that when I see a thread asking about converters 9/10 people say yank.

Hopefully that gets what I'm saying across.

But if your reason for liking X over yank is the "advertised stall speed" then going higher stall speed on the yank should fix your reasoning no? Well to each his own I guess. I still have to put the damn yank in but im not backing anyone 100 %, just going by research for now. Im sure yank isnt the only good converter.
LOL yea I hear ya on the phone thing sorry lol and we just totaly high jacked this guys thread lol Sorry OP! Damn

From what I have seen.. A true 3600 ptc hits harder in the sixty than a 3600 yank on average.

It's about his times because of a converter, no high jacking.

Like the discussion guys. Not necessarily any love for one over the other. I did my research and like you said 9/10 people liked Yank and were happy so why not. It is a great piece and does flash exactly what the said. As for the 3600 over the 4000 like everyone said to go with, I had a mental block that wouldn't let me put a 4000 converter in a stock car for the street. Hell, if I had talked to you about a PTC, I would have gone for that @ $500. As for the tires, they were 17" ET Streets.

The car wasn't tuned for the converter and seemed a little flat up top. The car now has a 4.11 gear and has been retuned. No times yet as the tracks have shut down for the year.

The difference between a 4000 and a 3600 while driving around town is about 100 rpms. Wot there is quite a difference. My buddy has full weight 98 ta, lts lid 273s ptc 4000 no other mods. He cut a 1.64 on his first and only pass so far in that car, DA was around 2200 and he ran 7.7 @ 87mph.. I think it has high high 1.5 short times and 7.5s in it with 1000 DA.
I cut high 1.4s in 2000da.. full weight, 4000 ptc, 380rwhp.. Honestly suspension still needs some fine tuning along with a tune. I haven't got to go back since the ported 102/xpipe and returne yet but I picked up power everywhere so im guessing it is only going to help my short time.

As for price.. my next converter will be a neil chance probably, that gives you an idea how much i don't care about price in the converter department it is not something you can skimp on. Even if ptc and yank cost 600, i would go ptc.. but the fact that ptc is 500 shipped is icing on the cake.

Btw what track did you run at? If you know what days you went you get go to dragtimes d/a calculator and it will tell you what your d/a was.

I agree. If the stall is all you had done ,then your car is doing damn good moving a 3500+lbs car out the hole. Just choose your mods wisely from this point on. You already got the main piece in . Nice set of headers and a cold air kit and a lil' tweak by Frost again , your ride just might suprise you again.

WARNING ----- Then you are really going to start spending money !!

other suspension mods , heads ,cam ,etc...

Agreed! The goal for me is to get the car running 11.90s before any engine mods. I just installed 4.11s and had it retuned but no times yet. The next step is headers and Y then maybe some lighter wheels and tires. Then heads and cam and then replace a broken rear. Yeah, so for about another $7k it will be where I want it if I'm lucky.

My 01 Formula went 12.02 @ 111 for the last owner with a vig 3600, QA1 shocks, 3.73s, and a magnaflow muffler on sticky tires for the last owner. Full weight and everything else stock. 1.57 60'
I got pretty close but the weather wasnt good enough to get down to the 12.02 again.

So far with a Yank SS4000, heads/cam, headers its gone 11.400 @ 119 now.

I could be wrong, but I expect you to break your 10 bolt pretty fast if you launch at a decent RPM. Although my suspension was allowing me to leave super violent, my Formula that I talked about in the above post made about 15 passes at about 1700-2000 rpms before breaking 2 teeth off. We put a brand new set of Richmond 3.73s in it, setup perfectly, perfect pattern, broke in right, was dead quiet at any speed. First pass I decided to launch at around 2800 rpms so I could cut a light. It pulled the wheels 3" and ripped 6 teeth off the ring gear. (It now has a 12 bolt)
I've also broken a few sets of 3.73s in my 99 Formula with a 2800 converter, but it also has had about 3000 passes on it in the last 3 years. My brother broke his 10 bolt with 4.10s after awhile with a 3600 converter.
With my dad specializing in rearends, labor is free so its not so bad for me, but be careful, 4.10s are way easier than 3.73s to break.

my 02 SS went 12.8 @ 110 with drag radials, little spin. the down side was that my car hit rev limiter every gear didn't shift left it in drive without O/D.
mods are: 6.0, CAI, LT, TUNE, 3.73's, i figuerd i should be doing a little bit better what do you guys think.
