Default First time to track ever

I ran a best of 12.7 @114. I have an 01 SS with the M6. I just traded one of my trucks for this car from some older lady on the west coast of FL. This is what I know it has. A big TSP cam, Pacesetters and SLP Y Pipe with a cut out. It has 4.10s with a MAC girdle cover. It has all the suspension add ons. The clutch is slipping, which I'm sure helps save the 10 bolt a bit. Brand new street radials I bought before I drove up there. But more improtantly I have no idea how to launch at the track. Hell I didn't know how to stage! Total Noob!

Yea I def have no skill at this point. I'm sure one of you guys could get low 12 or high 11s. There were guys there running those times with my trap speed. Maybe the new clutch will help for a few tenths since this one slips a little bit. I am def hooked on this now!

it takes time to learn on how to launch a 6 speed car, wait untill you upgrade the rear and really start hitting it out of the hole lol

turn that 2.1 60 foot into a 1.7 or 1.8 and it will run low 12's for you.

my M6 car went 11.9 @111 for the previous owner ( I saw him do it) so yes you have the trap to hit 11's but its tricky with a stick car and takes practice

Yep get your 60ft down in the 1.8 range and you should be around a 12.1. Nice trap speed though.

If I could ever get sub 2 seconds in the 60' I would feel like that is a victory in itself! LOL Thanks for the encouragement guys! My 7 y/o son to me on the ride home, "Dad, all you beat tonight was a station wagon"! LOL

You don't need a 1.7 to run low 12s with your mods. If you can nail a high 1.9 in low DA, then you will see very low 12s. Your trap is screaming high 11s! Personally, I'd stick with the street tires and do what I could with them. Reason being, unless you can afford a Moser or whatever new rear, that car isn't going to be a bit of fun if you can't drive it, lol. Anyway, very nice for your first track visit. Keep working on the driver mod and that car with surprise you every time
