Default Made it into the 12s

After installing all the major bolt-on mods and getting a good tune done over the winter and fall, I was finally able to make another trip to the track to get some new times.

I ran the car when it was stock and on street tires, and it ran a 13.8 @ 102.2. I knew that was a little on the slow side, even being an automatic, so I went into the runs last night hoping to just break out of the 13s.

I treated my first run as a shakedown, and just rolled into WOT from idle and ran a 13.25@108.7 with a 2.2 60'.

I knew there was room for improvement because of my high 60', but I wasn't sure if it would be enough to break into the 12s or not. So I lined up again and did some testing with stalling up before my launch for the rest of the runs.

That's all it took, and I was into the 12s for the rest of the night.

Second Run: 12.98 @ 108.2

Third Run: 12.93 @ 108.9

Fourth Run: 12.97 @ 108.5

After the fourth run me and some buddies started adjusting my tire pressure because I ended up starting to spin on the fourth run. Aired the front tires up to around 42 psi, and bled the rears down to 22 psi. We also pulled out my passenger seat to see what would happen.

Fifth Run: 12.88 @ 108.7 (Best of the night)

Sixth Run: 12.89 @ 108.8

My friend shot some video from our phones. We ended up not being able to see the boards, so I added in the times before uploading the video.

http://youtu.be/DX_a1fayhLA

It was a great night. Broke my car farther into the 12s than I thought it would go, didn't break anything, and got some video and plenty of time slips. Glad to make it into the 12 second club.

That's pretty good considering your still on the stock converter right? & how high were you stalling up before the tires break loose?

Yup, still on the stock converter. I can get it pretty close to 1900-2000 if I throw it in neutral and rev to get the brakes to hold their max.

Congrats on the 12's! I was super pumped when I hit my 1st 12 second pass. Any future mods in the works? You'll love a converter. But after a converter, you'll never want to drive the car without DR's. I run DR's and I've been able to get my 60' down to 1.6 launching from idle. If I try to leave any higher it blows the tires off and I have a tight 3200 performabuilt converter. I couldn't imagine a looser 4000+ stall.

EDIT: Didn't see your sig. You already have DR's. That's the NT05's are my next tire after my 555R's wear out.

Mods list- lt headers, k&n fiilter lid, ls6 intake which is factory, nitto 555r 245's, offrodoad y-pipe, borla catback, built 4l60e with a yank ss3600 stall which i love, and a BADASS TUNE thanks to INVISIBLEZ here on Ls1 tech.... A stall will help u soo much

Stall and trans cooler are the next things on my list. Looking at either a Yank SS or Circle D, probably something in the range of 4000 (since I'm planning on running an N/A H/C/I combo), followed up with some tune tweaking from Fran and his guys at Race Proven Motorsports.

In between the stall/cooler and H/C/I swap I gotta get some cash together for a 12-bolt and 3.73s (hopefully before I blow the 10-bolt). Also planning on having my rear wheels widened to fit 315 NT05r's when my current set wears out.

Definitely trying to get mid to low 12s by the end of this season, and into the 11s next year.

Good luck with your runs. Let me know how much those gears help out, I'm planning on jumping to 3.73s from my stock 3.23s. Also thought about the TSP V.2, but I'm starting to lean towards the TSP 233/239, or getting something custom spec'd.

I plan on going NOS later on but right now beeing all motor and a full weight car my buddy mike wants to throw some 4.10's in it just to see exactly what we can get out of the car before even going cam.

Lol that's a lot of work for so many gear changes, but if it helps, it helps.

3.73s are good for a4's. 4.10s would be kind of overkill unless it's a track only car. Lol I want to take the car on long trips sometimes still, so keeping highway rpm's down would be nice (my truck has 4.56 gears so ask me how I know).

And yeah the DA was still up pretty good, even with the temps in the low 70s. Think it was still around 1250-1300 by the time the track shut down. If I made the same passes in october I might have hit 12.7x

well the 3.42's were free mod gears so if they worked like I had hoped it was no biggie, but they were not what I was looking for. 4.10's would be really nice but not for daily driver use and that what my T/A is. 3.73's are next im pulling out spare and jack rear seats and passanger seat. Tranny cooler will be installed before next weekend and Im going to Trailer the car to the track....
