Took the Z to the track last night to lay down a number for a starting point before my cam goes in next week so I can know how much I end up gaining et wise.

Ran my first pass and spun the whole 60 foot(first time at the track in 3 years) and ran an awful time I won't post.

2nd run I avoided the water and did a much better burn out. I am on 255/45/17 nitto nt555 street tires and stock suspension 63k mile decarbons and all...hooked clean with a 2nd gear launch and ran a 12.49 @ 108mph with a 1.7 60ft time. Mods below

Lid, ls6 intake(it's an 02), ud pully, pacesetter 1 3/4 lt's tsp 3" duals, ptc 3200 converter, built trans, factory 3.23 rear gear, frost mail order tune.

Car is even misfiring slightly so I am happy with that pass.

Get rid of those de-crapons and your 60ft will drop. Whats with the 2nd gear launch?

1.7 60ft with a 2nd gear launch ? How do you manage a 7.9 in the 1/8 with a second gear launch and 3:23 gears??? You apparently know something I don't lol

How could you leave in second gear in an auto?

You put the selector in 2nd it still starts in 1st.

if he has a shift kit it won't do that. my bolt on stalled car went 7.84 leaving in second lol.

Starting your a4 in 2nd will start (and stay) in 2nd gear. You use this to reduce torque to the wheels when starting out on ice/slippery roads. This is right out of the manual.
So, thats why better traction can be had by starting out in 2nd.

I may try that,I always put it in 2nd for my burnout and snick it to 3rd at the line.

Whatever works for ya.
I never start in 2nd at the line. Always 3rd.
For burnout I start in 1st.
