Default How can I get in here? (A tuough one)

Ok, I have a 1999 Grand am GT
3.4L v6 with RamAir
A4 tranny (4t45e)
Full Flowmaster cat-back
Lowering springs (2 inches)

What do I need to do for cheap, and without n2o to get my car into the 13/12?

If I am correct, stock those cars ran around 15.9s, right? Then you said without nitrous, then you said the word cheap. Well, best of luck to ya. I think you'll need it!!!! You could do an engine swap(not cheap) or a turbo kit (again, not cheap) or just spray the damn thing (you said you don't want to do this), so honestly, it's not looking too good from where I'm sitting. I could be completely wrong, and if so anyone feel free to chime in, but it sure sounds like an uphill battle!

hate to bust your bubble but i don't think it will be done with the grand am. without a bigger engine or a power adder of some sort. then again, i could be wrong. but the quickest i have seen is mid 13's using nitrous.

Daily driver/No spray/Cheap?

Sell it and buy a 4th gen f bod (LS1 equipped that is).... easiest way to run 12's w/ minor bolt ons and still be dependable. You could probably sell your Grand Am for enough to buy one. Not being an ***, its just a suggestion.

I just heard about a guy that supposable has $60k into his caviler and ran a 13.8 with a turbo Ecotec. The dumb **** even has a Moroso 7qt dry sump on it.

I think the cheapest way to get your car in the 12s is nitrous and take a lot of weight out of the car. If you were to build the engine to do it N/A, I don't think the engine would have very good street manners. And it would cost some money. A turbo or super charger would be the easy way to go and it would still be drivable, but they cost money too. You could try www.fullthrottleV6.com
They might be a little more helpful
Good luck! I'd like to see it if you can make 12s. Let us know.

A "street driven" grand am might be capable but not a TRUE daily driver. And you said you dont wanna go too far with it all. If you want a grand am to run 12s n/a,you better be prepared to spend some serious $$$! As far as my knowledge goes,Its impossible. I dont know what to tell ya. But good luck either way. Let us know what happens!

Put a blower on it... I've seen a guy at the track with a GTP with pullie change and I think he said SLP rockers and he wes running 14.00 and dipped into the high 13's once or twice. I guess if you have to do it cheap you could look for a wrecked GTP and get a few parts from it

Maybe a Northstar or 3.8s motor swap. It woulnt be cheap though. You kinda need a tranverse motor like those to swap in. Atleast you'd have something rare.

not going to happen...

atleast without an engine swap

and to the other poster above i do not believe the GTP (l67 supercharged 3.8l) engine and the 3.4l grand am engine have interchangeable parts. you would have to do a whole engine swap...

I don't know if this guy is really that clueless or he is just messing with us all. He made another short post abdout who would win between his car and a bolt-on Eclipse GST. Everyone told him he would lose bad and he never even replied to the thread. Now he makes this post and only one short reply. I am starting to get the impression he is just trolling.

But just in case you are not trolling...
Listen dude, if you want to see 12's there is only one remotely logical answer. Unless you are hell bent on keeping it for whatever reason, Start by SELLING THE DAMN GRAND AM! Do not make the mistake that many people make of dumping a ton of money into a slow car, only to make it as fast as a bone stock, nicer looking car you could have bought outright with the amount of money you dumped into mods on the slow one.

I have the answer for you.....very simple. Unscrew the gas cap, roll the Grand Am out of the way, roll up a WS6, SS, etc, screw gas cap back on. There you go!!!!

Plain and simple: I can't see it happening, especially for cheap. Sorry to break it to you, but it won't happen without a big power adder such as a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous.
