I don't know. But that doesn't change the fact that the time you claimed can not happen with the mods you listed. Not at full weight any way.

Who told you TM removal was good for 10 rwhp? It adds no HP and is really not much of a benifit for a mild bolt on car with a stock stall.

Again, do a search. MAF is a waste of time for bolt on cars. You may have gained a few HP but it probably wasn't 10.

No way. Other catbacks yes. But the flowmaster has the nickname "blowmaster" for a reason. While many consider it to be one of the better sounding catbacks, it's been proven to be the worst flowing. Gains over stock would be minimal. 5 rwhp at best. Again you can do a search to confirm what I am saying.

WHAT????????? 45 rwhp from a MAF? You just said 10 rwhp above. If 45 rwhp was gained from a MAF because of "running rich" then everyone would do that mod as thier first! But the reality is that it's a minimal gain that can be had by getting a dyno tune. It's also not a mod anyone needs that's under 500 rwhp. Again, do a search to confirm.

It's common knowledge around here that automatics don't dyno as well as manuals. It's also common knowledge around here that 98's and 99's dyno less then other years due to the ls1 intake and the crappy stock manifolds. Honestly there is a good chance your car (and mine) might have dynoed closer to 280 rwhp stock. 300-315 rwhp usually happens with M6's or 01-02 A4's.

290 rwhp for the year and transmission is a very good estimate. Again, a search can confirm this.

Not a snowballs chance in hell your car with just the mods you listed makes 335 rwhp. It would take LT headers, ORY, fast 90, underdrive pulley, CAI and some really good air to hit that number through an auto. The reality is you're probably closer to 310 rwhp.

You didn't get a 12.7 @ 109 with the mods you listed. The traction wouldn't be there, the power wouldn't be there and the torque off the line (crappy gears and stall) wouldn't be there.

Without significant weight reduction or a previous owner installing a small but effective cam I just can't see this happening.

ok first of all i wasnt saying that it was a 45rwhp gain from the MAF, i was sayin that for a total gain of all the mods, and far as the gains from the MAF, torque managment, etc.......i dont need to do any ONLINE research based on what other ppl say, i have done it all in person, i own HPTuners Suite, and me and my father doing the tuning ourselves on the dyno, and....lol no gains from torque management!!!! hahaahah that is ridiculous ok hmmm the absolute best example i can think of would be my fathers 06 silverado, which yes has much more torque management, and a different drivetrain, but anyway it dynoed 205rwhp stock, and after ONLY torque management taken out it dynoed 272RWHP, and ive never seen any of the ls1's gain less than 10rwhp, if u dont believe it ill have him fax me the dyno sheet .......and just to get ur story straight......
slp lid and bellows
Granatelli MAF
Flowmaster catback
Edelbrock shorty's (got em for free or else i wouldnt have bought them lol)
and only tuning done is we removed the torque management, no A/F tuning or transmission tuning
your claiming at TOTAL gain of 20RWHP...that is ridiculous, i will agree on the flowmaster ****, only bc ive never dynoed them so i really dont know, but even with that it would still be a minimum of 35rwhp

and sorry one thing i forgot to mention that actually does make a difference is my car has all of the a/c components removed condenser, compressor, dryer, all the hoses literally all of it...... my mistake i completely forgot about it till we start getting into this debate....again sorry

Intake

Free mods - 0-5rwhp

Lid - 5-10rwhp
Install

Big article on lids and dyno comparisions here

Filter - 0-5rwhp

MAF -
Very controversial as to any real gains, may even show negative numbers due to the fact it will be tricking the computer to run lean due to the larger diameter of the housing (good for stock, since you will gain a few hp by running a little leaner than the factory slightly rich setting; however, bad for modified vehicles). Stock MAF's are good to 500+hp. Once you are beyond that I suggest you contact your tuner (or local speed shop if you are doing your own) to find out what they recomend. Some will suggest taking the maf out and doing a speed density tune, which relies solely on the front O2 sensors.

Listen

Cat-back - 10-15rwhp

Shorty Headers 5-10rwhp

Tune 10-20rwhp

OK this is from this site now assuming the lowest possible gain, i would still net 30rwhp, AND i know ur gonna say the flowmaster doesnt get 10rwhp ok, well the MAF makes up for that, and those numbers i used are assuming the filter and FTRA mod, give no gains....which they do.... sooo now lets see the max hp gain, again i will assume no gain from flowmaster, max gain would be 40rwhp, that again is assuming no gain from the MAF either which isnt true, i still only gave 10rwhp for the tune in that figure bc its only torque manaagement.....ANYWAY for you to say that the max hp i could gain is 20RWHP....THAT IS RIDICULOUS

Dude, its totally believable. Some people in this thread really need to get a life. They are just pissed because you ran a faster time than they did with those mods and it is pretty obvious. People will say you're full of ****, and have to me, just remember: Why the **** do you care what someone you don't know, will never see or meet, thinks about your car?

Hope that helps.

I went 13.06 @ 109 with junk street tires. 3.23, stock stall, 100% full weight(270 lb driver too), with just a cat-back/lid.

My car with the free mods, headers, tune, etc, could have gone that fast.

Here's the problem (and I'm not trying to be an a$$ or take sides or anything).

THis guy gets on here and posts a time that is VERY hard to believe and yet he didn't have a timeslip to prove it for a while and didn't even remember mph or 60' times. Most people are gonna see a little flag go up here. Obviously if he did run these times then he is an outstanding driver but that usually takes a good amount of practice at the track. Anyone with a good amount of practice should recall trap speeds and 60' times.

Here is what else I notice, comparing his slip to mine from a few days ago when I went 12.85. I have the same mods he has, but better (see sig). My car should make a great deal more power but I'm not even gonna get into that. The DA for my run was about 3500 ft:

marker - Magnum - Me
60' - 1.92 - 1.82 (I already have a tenth on him at the 60')
330' - 5.02 - 5.31 (Holy **** his car just blew past me)
1/8 - 8.17@86.6 - 8.20 @ 85.1 (Somehow I am catching up with less mph)
1/4 - 12.75@109 - 12.86 @ 105.9 (Damn I just lost to a car with far less mods)

My pass was pretty solid, I mean nothing funky going on but it looks like if we were lined up next to each other it woulda been kinda back and forth. I mean I'm a tenth ahead at the 60' mark but already by the 330' I'm 3 tenths behind, yet somehow I manage to even the score out by half track only to lose by a tenth in the end. There is something funky there and thats why people are questioning it. Not because they are jealous.

I'm with animul here.
This guy's timeslip is just too odd to believe, just as his claims.
Somethings not right here.

your car has a better 60' bc you had drag radials and probably a higher gear, i cant launch my car as hard with street tires, i start gain on u im guessing maybe bc your tuning isnt right maybe somethin with your VE's did u retune for your lt's?, and for recalling the 60' time and mph i did recall them and stated them but was not completely sure bc i didnt have the slip with me, now u started to catch me bc your car has lt's which help on top end, i have shortys, and also one of probably the biggest reasons for there inconsistencies in the two runs is my car has not been tuned for any of its mods, so i know for a fact the my A/F, and VE's, are way out of wack which could easily cause the car to loose power over certain parts of the power ban, also i mean comparing runs within a fews tenths on totally different tracks is ridiculous, i mean there are just soo many factors, did u stay in the grove? did I? was our temp outside the same? humidity?, i mean cmon man

i mean for example look at boosted's car he had a stock stall street tire, catback and lid, not even headers, and he beat ur car, and u had a full exhaust, tune, and a 3600!! stall, if his car had that he would have smoked that time

I'm not saying I think you are lying or complaining that my car is slower with more mods. I realize every car, day, and track is different. I am just giving raw data examples of why people are being skeptical about the claim. All you gotta do is go out there and back it up. Then in a few months when you put a cam in make sure you measure the old one to know it was stock . GG on running 12s anyway!

yeah i hear what ur sayin, sorrry man i didnt mean to jump all over you, its just ppl on here been really gettin me worked up, but yeah i plan to have the ls6 intake, probably pypes catback instead of flowmaster only reason i have the flows is because i got the whole system shortys all the way back off a 2000 trans am, for a trade for my magnaflow catback i used to have, i did it bc i wanted headers plus i really wanted the newer y-pipe, bc my 98 one the cats are welded to the y-pipe, but anyways im also gettin some new gears most likely 3.23's or 3.42's, by the end of the summer, then maybe a cam for christmas!!! haha

If I had the stall, tires, headers, and a tune, the car would have gone low 12s that day without a doubt. I had the mph for it...The 2.08 60' was killing me.

A 1.7x 60', easily obtainable with a converter and a tire, knocks .5 off the ET instantly. Than take into consideration the added power from the headers and tune, and there's another .2 or so.

I was trying so hard to shave off that .06 seconds to get a 12.9999...But it ran 13.06-13.07 every single time except my first 2 passes where it went 13.17.

edit: But, everyone knows Pewter cars are naturally faster.
