Default The car SHOULD do 12s Help!

I need some advice. I have a 2000 z28 m6 w/oem cluch, lt's, ory, lid, catback and dyno tune to 341rwhp, 347rwtq and bfg street tires. I have steadily walked the ets from 13.3@106 w/2.1 60' to a 13.05@108 w/1.93 60'
On that run I launched @2800 and slipped the clutch. I can shift very well.
Is my launch technique bad? I know I should be in the 12s. Can someone give me advice that doesen't involve spending money. Thanks

Wait for a little better air.

Pull some weight out.

You seem like you can drive pretty well looking at your 1.93 on street tires.

Then just make it hook. I have less than 300hp at the wheels, and I'm now in the 12's(sig not updated)

Try 20#'s of air pressure with a 3k-3500 launch. Should get you that 12.9 or 12.8. That's how I got mine with the same setup you have a couple of years ago. The stock clutch will take most of the hit so your rear doesn't.

Do the 2000 models have the LS6 intake? I forget. Also what rpm are you shifting?

You're shifting where you should...maybe a tick high but you're fine...drag radials will get you there easy...if you're worried about breaking just try it one time at 3 grand...side step you'll be in the 12's easy

Dyno #'s very close to mine, your stock clutch could be slipping, when you hit second gear w/ stock tires are you still spinning the tires. Before I got DR, on the 1-2 shift my car would get little side ways, sometimes needing too lift. I'm in Florida too, but rarely race in the summer too hot and wet, better air will help along w/ a set of DR.

I always grab a little rubber in 2nd but not enough to feel it, just a screech. I know the oem clutch is only rated to 350lbft of torque so it could be slipping.

well i'd make sure your not getting any wheel hop. just my 2 cents but i'd add SFC, LCA's,& panhard bar. then drag radials.

+1 on wait for better air. With 340rwhp you should be 111mph in the 1/4

err i meant i WENT 13.3 @106 when i was bone stock on a 98 degree day so you should be in the 12's with some good air.. that my guess the air got you... although are you tuned? that might be your problem your running stock #'s with some decent bolt-ons.

No wheel hop, and the tune was by RPM in garner NC, the a/f ratio is dead flat at 13:1 and the broadest, flattest torque curve I've ever seen on a small block w/ at least 300rwtq from 2500 to 5700 and 347rwtq @ 4500.

Need some good clutch recommendations

Well, just confirmed the slipping clutch today, tried to do a 2nd gear burnout in a rain-soaked, empty parking lot. Did a burnout alright but not w/ the tires.

Nice smell too, check your fluid, probably very dark, bleed it, and no more burnouts until clutch replacement. Mine started slipping a couple of years ago, but not a daily driver, only slips w/ DR and good traction, LS7 clutch comming soon.
