Default Lt1 or ls1? help!

So I have been looking for a trans am for sometime now. Today I looked at a beautiful 1997 ws6 with only 28,000 miles on it, it's bone stocks and very clean inside and out, But it's an lt1 and I had my heart set on a ls1, so I want to know if it's that big of a diffrence I just want something fast and I'm growing impatient and I would like oppinions if I should just go with it or keep waiting for an ls1

is this a serious question?
If you plan on modding the car, LS1.

LS1 for sure. Just hold out. I waited forever to finally find mine and I love everything about it! So glad I didn't jump on ones I found earlier.

LT1's are not horrible but on this site your going to get a biased opinion. What I will say a desirable LS1 is 2001 or 2002, and to a lesser extent 2000 and 1999, avoid 98's. The main issue is finding GOOD, CLEAN examples and even LS1's are having that issue. Theya re getting hacked and modded into race cars and to me a LOW milage LT1 is something to think about.

97 Ws.6 is a VERY rare car in the scheme of LT1's and you would get props from the Fbody community. Just gotta start checking prices.

I'd take the 97 LT1 over with 28k miles over a 98LS1 with 70k if they are the same price. A 99, I'd really be thinking about it, but any other year and I'd go LS1. My 94LT1 with 120k beat on PLENTY of auto LS1's when I had it

I'd buy a 100k LS1 before I'd buy a 40k LT1. Not that LT1s are bad, LS1s are just that much better. If the LS1 is what you really want, wait for it.

I dont think those Ls1's were really racing you. Get an Ls1 you wont look back.

Don't buy an Lt1 unless you plan to NEVER Drive it in the rain, or clean the undercarriage, or the engine, or hope you engine never leaks anything on to you opti-spark.

Plus your going to need a head, cam and intake swap out of an lt1 just to match the power of an lS1 with minor bolt on's.

I've owned a 94 Vette and I loved it, but I only drove it once a week. And it would get it's *** handed to it by any LS1

I wouldn't even buy a 97 ws6 if it had a ls3 swap...I think the front ends of the lt1 4th gens are horribly dated looking

They are so pointy they always remind me of kindergartner drawings of cars.

I'd go with a LS1 and not all 98's are bad. Mine had a completely stock motor with headers,catback,3200 stall,3.42's and bogarts on it and I went 12.0's on motor and 11.20's on 100 shot. I had a LT1 and the opti spark ruined me on it. It ran good when it wanted to

I never had any experience with lt1 but I'd say with the price of ls1 car going down, wait for the right ls1 coming down your way. Newer engine, more potential, better gas mileage I suppose.

This. More potential for sure.

This site does seem to be a little biased againt the LTx.There some LTx's that will **** on some of the LSx based cars here, but it WILL take more money and more done to the motor. Example, H/C/I LT1 wouldnt put out much more than a cam only LS1, if it even did.

Nice assumption when u have no clue of what was done to the car

It wasn't FAST, and I always wanted an LS1, but it ran just fine considering I paid 3k for it...

I will have an 01SS shortly(waiting on a few things for the seller to do) and will be glad to have it, but for cheap and LT1 car can run... You are just starting out on platform of about 25hp less

Buy LS1, beat on it and blow engine, build Stroker & break everything else, then upgrade.

LS1 hands down. Opti spark is enough for me to never even consider buying and LT1.
