oil pump pick up tube ****UPDATED PICS***
Ok I have the new holley conversion pan. I installed a new melling pump and installed the holley pick up tube with a blue o-ring. the tube slid right in and would bolt up perfect except the rear of the mounting tab does not sit flush like the bolt side. Tried several different times and still fits the same everytime. Almost like the tab is not at the right angle. Don't know if this will cause a oiling problem.

You talking about where a second bolt would be if there was 1 ? If so , I believe they are pretty much all like that . Mine is maybe 1/16" off the pick-up tube . As long as You lubed the blue o-ring really good and it went in good You should be good to go .

Yeah thats where it is sticking up. I did find the problem. The Meling oil pump pickup hole is not machined as deep as the gm pump. So when the oring sits in there it will not let the tube sit flush like on the Gm pump. What to do? Tried switching orings and same thing. Do I run it or is there a thinner oring? New Meling 10295 pump on the left factory GM on right.

Mine did that at first, but eventually with about an hours time leveled itself out evenly ... I used plenty of lubrication on the o-ring and inside the pump housing. Snugged it up again once it leveled out.

I had that situation also. After inserting the pickup tube I left the pump bolts loose and rotated the pump counterclockwise as far as I could so the tube & o-ring were pushed into the pump as far as possible on the side opposite the bolt. Then when I tightened the bolt the flange pulled up tight & square against the pump. If I just used the bolt to pull the flange up it would pinch the o-ring and it would never pull up square. I used a lot of assembly lube on the flange & o-ring.

I tried rotating the pump with no luck so I removed the pump and tried installing the pick up just sitting on my work bench. I could pull it flush on the bolt side but the other side was not flush. Unable to push it in by hand. It's the depth of the bore thats the problem.
