Default Clutch install checklist

Well, I am getting ready to order a clutch. I made a list up but wanted to check to see if I need anything else before I start ordering. Anyway, heres the list:

ZO6 clutch kit (should be plenty since I am staying bolt on)
01 master cylinder (part # 12570277)
01 Slave Cylinder (part # 15046288)

Should I get a pilot bearing also?

Also, will I still need to do the drill mod?

Thanks

Yes to the getting a pilot bearing, may as well since you are right there anyway. Will need to get a puller to get it out also. And yes, you will still need to do the drill mod.

you may wanna buy some trans fluid... since you have a 98 get NON-synthetic I used Castrol Dex III and seemed to smooth the shifts a bit.. It is worthdraining the trans to make it lighter plus who knows how old it is.. (4.1qts)

you would have to at least re-surface your flywheel if it is not too thin, but i would (did) buy a flywheel when i put in my spec 3

i thought the z06 clutch kit comes with clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, and pilot bearing. This is what i've been told a million times. If your doing a clutch install might as well buy a throwout bearing, under $100, and this does not come witht he kit. Drill mod is also needed. Trans fluid, all the tools and should b set.

Ok, I was under the impression that the master needed to be changed also, so is it just the slave cylinder? Also, I am not sure if the kit comes with the pilot bearing, I will check on it. Thanks

Do you have a part number for a throwout bearing?

so is there any advantages of getting the new master cylinder? If not I will just save the money and put it toward something else, like going ahead and upgrading to a Spec 3.

Also, what type of fluid should be used?

Thanks for all the help guys.

you only need a new master if you upgrade to a highend clutch, the stock one will flow enough fluid for the z06 but im not sure which clutches need the master upgraded. i think it may work for the stage 3 just fine, anything above that needs it, not positive on that though. any dextron 3 will work.

Regardless of the clutch, it is recommended to get the upgraded master! I have the Ram model, and it is great!

OK, I guess I will just go ahead and get the master so that I won't regret it later.
