Talking Please list your SBC/BBC Project here!

We would like to see what SBC/BBC vehicles are on this site. This would be an excellent opportunity to share information and photos of you vehicle with other interested members. I'd like to see some nice 4th gens with BBC setups too!

I have a 92" camaro Z28 25th. With a SBC procharger nitrous motor. But about a year ago I striped it all down to start over! Know I will be making a tube chassis BBC nitrous motor. Motor is from MORAN with 1670hp on 2 stages. the car will go off the my chassis builder this winter!

This will not be just a fast car, it will also all be striped down to the metal and repainted. This car was my first own car at 15yr! I love this car more than anything and will never sell any of my camaros! It is a very big project that I think will take 2yrs to finnish. And about 100k as the motor alone is 34k. I don't have any pics on my computer but will have them when the car goes out to get worked on!

Hey guys, this is a cool new forum!!I"m building a ls1 drag race car but my street car is a 1981 2nd gen Camaro Z-28 original 4 speed car.It now has a .040 over 400 smallblock(408)with Vortec heads. The rotating assembly is all Scat,6 in. H beam rods with SRP dished pistons also Total Seal gapless rings SCR is 9.75.The Vortec heads have beeh ported to 185cc intake and 80 cc on the exhaust, the intake flows 68.7@.100,143@200,206@300,252@400.252@500 Exhaust flow is 60@100,136@200,178@300,197@400,207@500,215@600.I ported these heads and had them flow tested 3 times, with stock valves and with the 1.6 and 2.02(.100 longer then stock) REV stainless necked down stem valves. The intake was opened up in the pushrod area to the point the outside of the port had to be welded. These heads have 7\16 ARP studs and Comp 918 springs.Valvetrain is all Comp,Cam is a custom hyd. roller intake is 230@.050 with .550 lift and exhaust is 236@.050 with .550 lift LDA is 109 and ICL is 107 ATDC.The roller rockers ar 1.6 Magnums with Comp .100 longer then stock pushrods. The timing set is Cloyes adjustable double roller set, covered with a Comp 3 piece timing cover. The balancer is a Fluidampner 8 in.It has March pulleys on the surpentine belt drive from a 92 RS Camaro. The waterpump and fuel pump are Edelbrock,The intake is a port matched Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap Performer with a 750 Mighty Demon carb, air cleaner is K&N chrome 14 in.x4 in.The headers are Hedman 1 3\4 with a 3 in. Dr.Gas X-pipe that goes to 2.5 Borla stainless oval mufflers with a 20 in extension that runs under the rearend,it sounds great!!!!A Griffin aluminum radiator with a 92 RS electric fans keeps it cool. The distibuter is Proform with Moroso 8 mm wires and Autolite plugs.Timing is 34 degress. The flywheel is a 22 lb stock unit with a HD clutch and pressureplate, trans is stock 4 speed,3.42 gears with a limited slip rearend.
Suspention is all Hotchkiss with Moog tierod ends linkage, etc. The steering gear is from a 92 RS(quick ratio)The front subframe has solid aluminum body mounts as well as poly A-arm bushings. The front Hotchkiss springs were cut 1\2 coil to get the wheelwell down even with the top of the 25" tires on the front, back is about 1 lower then the 28'tires.Brakes are HD stock for now! Also I have a set of self fabricated adjustable tractionbars as I have tore up 2 rear U-joints.
The interior is pretty much stock except for the leather seats from a 2000 TA and the gauges from a 1979 Z-28 with a 130 speedo,I also installed a tilt wheel from another Camaro in this car.The exterior is black with the factory stripes(silver) and the 15 x 8 factory aluminum rims, tires are front 245 60"s rear 275 60"s.Future plans are Baer brakes and 17 in painted American Mohawk (looks likeTT2"s except with painted centers (dark silver)and clearcoat finish). Also MSD billet distributer and AL6 box with rev limiter. Also bodywork and paint job and complete new interior with race type seats, belts, etc and a killer sound system.
The car is very docile to drive has a killer idle and is plenty fast,I"ve had it to the track one time and my best time on the 1\8 mile is a 7.59 at 89.9 mph and a 1.9 60 ft time, this was on very slippery BFG street radials(not drag tires)I believe with some et slicks and some tuning it will go into the 6"s!!

My project that's on hold right now due to just spending about $7k on the LS1 is.

1980 GMC Caballero Diablo, built 383, Stage III Canfield 215 heads with 2.08" valves, Super Victor with NOS Pro Shot Fogger pilled to 350 hp & a 150 shot plate for a second stage, Mighty Demon 750 carb. TCI built Turbo 350 with a brake, TCI 4400 stall with anti ballooning plates, custom built 9" with rear discs. Pro Ratchet shifter. Aeromotive fuel system for main fuel with 12 gallon fuel cell, 2 gallon nitrous enrichment fuel system with Holley red pump. Edelbrock adjustable upper control arms, Edelbrock Boxed lowers, Moroso drag springs in the back with 3 way adjustable competition engineering shocks all the way around set @ 50/50 rear & 90/10 rear. I've barely got 500 miles on the motor, & now I've decided that when I get back to work on the project that I'm gonna keep the 2 stage spray setup + go with a blow through Pro-Charger setup. This car does drive & I do drive it a few miles a week just to warm it up good.

I still haven't made a full pass down the track with it due to the fact that it's shattered 2 sets of U-Joints & gone through 2 drive shaft's also.

Here is an album with a bunch of pictures of it almost done, it was running at this time, but didn't have all the direct port stuff, 9" & all the new electronics.

http://community.webshots.com/album/89668067jkBeCY

I'm sure that there is a whole bunch of stuff that I'm leaving out at this time, but you can't remember everything.

that intake was just on for checking carb to cowl clearence. I was sponsored by NOS and the intake that motor uses has 2 foggers and 1 plate on it. So with the motor at the time it was set up for N2O making 1096hp on the motor, we were set up to put another 600 hp in n2o stages through the motor. But it looks like I will no longer be with NOS or running n2o at all.

Outlaw,
What did you have to do to get the rear tires tucked in so far? Those empty LCA brackets look like they're still in the factory location...

When I ordered the rear end from Moser.. I had it done narrower, If I recall, I had it narrowed 3 inch per side narrower rear end. So 6 inches total narrower.
As for the LCA’s, yes they are in the stock location, I welded in the LCA relocation brackets for when I run an event that does not require me to use the stock mounting location for the suspension. If I used the lower holes I would not be “legal” as a stock suspension car.

You said 100% stock floor, I can't imagine that you got them that far in without a mini-tub... If so I'd really like to know how!

Id be more then happy to take pictures of whatever you would like to see. Infact, other then cutting out the factory bump stops, I have not done any rear quater pannel/tub work. I am running a 275/60/15 on the car, so its pretty narrow and that allows it to sit up in the wheel well more.

Let me know if you would like pic's of anything, would be more then happy to take them for yea
