Rear End Fluid?
Where can you pick up the fluid already prepared to pour in our rearends without having to mix it yourself? I am looking at replacing my pinion seal next weekend and would like to go ahead and change the fluid because I have lost so much. Any suggestions on what I should use?

I always pick up the GM stuff from the dealer. Had a bad experience with the pre-approved equivalent from other retailer once. Cost me a new rearend that we later learned wasn't even needed (long story .) Maybe others have been luckier and I just got a raw deal. In any event. it's not that bad to get the oil and lubricant from dealer and then mix them yourself. Just be careful with the additive. It stinks like ***.

Yes additive is key, if you dont use synthetic fluid. If you use synthetic it isnt needed and has no benefit. This information came from their top technician with over 25 years of experience. I think it was either 85 or 90 weight oil.

If you have the Torsen Differential and the 1999's do, you can use a synthetic 75W-90 GL-5 Gear Oil. Otherwise, use a 80W-90 GL-5 Dino Gear Oil. LSD Additive is not needed since they do not have clutch packs. They had worm screws and additive is not going to help. I was talking to some tech's at the dealership and they have seen a lot more differential problems since GM went to the Torsen. GM cutting costs again.

I'm running Redline 75W-90 Synthetic in my 12-bolt and it's great. They state right on the bottle that no additive is needed.
A side benefit is that my rearend runs 25 degrees cooler with the Redline in it. My friend has an infrared thermometer gun and we did back to back 10 mile runs before and after, with the outside temp within 4 degrees.
26 degree drop after the change.
