2 Series or 3 Series (Pic Included)
Hey guys is there anyway that any of you can identify whether I have a e 3 series or 2 series carrier from this pic? I keep hearing about the thick and thin ring gear but don't have an example of both to compare with.
Thanks,
Josh

hey I can't see the picture but to tell a 2 series and 3 series carrier apart is fairly simple. The reluctor ring on a 2 series carrier is about 1/2" thick, muuuch thicker then the 3 series which is only about 1/4" thick

Well the thing is man I don't have the large reluctor on the carrier. I have TCS so I have the two small reluctors on each axle shaft. Any other way to tell?

Those apply to all applicable GM 7.5/7.625 Auburn,Torsen, and Eaton carriers as pinion centerline vs. ring gear mounting surface distance must be maintained irrelative of what type of LSD is used.
Now those dimensions will vary(only by thousands of an inch)because of manufacturing tolerances. Those two were the first of my many carriers I grabbed to photo. My others carriers might not have those exact dimensions and variances in rearend assembly in accomodated with the use of the carrier shims to set lash.
