Default Quench and gasket size

So we are trying to obtain an ideal quench distance, but our question is what thickness gasket should we use. With our calculations it seems like we would have to use a really thin gasket such as .020, but is that too thin for such a build? We are also planning on supercharging this build.

4.127" Bore
4.0" Stroke
6.125"Rod Length
68CC Combustion chamber
.030" Piston to Deck (in hole)
-25CC dished pistons
44 ADV intake close angle
228 ADV intake duration
240 ADV exhaust duration
114 lobe separation
110 intake lobe centerline

Also, would like to keep compression around 9.5:1

If you are supercharging does it make that much difference what the quench is? I mean if it turns out to be .060" does that make much of a difference as long as the static compression ratio is where you want it.

I think getting the static compresssion ratio where you want it is more important. Also I would think you would want a very good quality head gasket.

thanks for the response GTA. What do u think the minimum gasket size I can get away with? It's recommended that u should not go less than .029" but not sure if that applies to supercharged... Your thoughts?

I'm just curious how you got the .030" in the hole. Was that measured or estimated?

I've read that test at MIT showed that as compression ratio increases, the effects of quench become less detrimental to combustion. I bet that goes for the much denser charge of a supercharged application as well.

The .030" was measured. The block was not decked but only cleaned up .003".

Sounds like keeping SCR/DCR lower is more a important factor in controlling detonation in a forced induction motor than quench will ever be.
