Owning a 2000 4.8 5 speed 4wd swb Chevy has been baddass but after 312000 miles it's a little worn out. I have a purchased a a 160000 mile 5.3 out of a 2003 avalanche. Computer all accessories be an easy swap into the truck. Except FOR THE .400 DIFFERNCE CRANK.
SO FAR IK I NEED
-nfw1050 flywheel-(sapposed to weigh 40lbs-is this bad)-what do I have to do with the dowel pins?
-i need longer flywheel bolts-part number please? Ik my 4.8 bolt are too short bc of the .400 diff.
-do I need different pressure plate bolts? Mine from my 4.8 won't be the same?
-i keep hearing about a extended pilot bearing? But if the nfw1050 is the same flywheel for the 2001-up trucks then can't I just use those years stock pilot bearing.
Otherwise I've found part number 12557583 for the ls7 pilot bearing.
One more thing is will the computer have to be flashed b4 the truck will run with a different computer?

I have seen lots of posts about this but none that litteraly give me the right part number and for my exact occasion

Same deal with the 99-00 4.8s. I'm ready to change it up I just need some insight to buy some parts

Not sure what you're talking about. The gen 3 cast blocks for the 4.8 and 5.3 are the same exact block. In fact, they say 4.8/5.3 right on the block. They do have a different crank, but the stroke is what's different, not the actual length of the crank as far as I know. Should be a direct drop in unless I'm missing something. Stock stroke of LM7 is 3.622 vs the 4.8's 3.27 which is a difference of 0.352. I could be totally wrong here, but I've owned both engines in various vehicles.
