Had a 68 Lemans in high school that I managed to blow up racing a 1984 442.
Had a 64 GTO in college, race car returned to the street. Still had lettering on the sides.
Had a 68 Chevelle 300 that my buddy and I dropped a 69 327ci/ T350 combo/ 12 bolt into back in 1990.
Had about 20 cars after that.
I like to wrench when I have the time but have been extremely busy for the last few years.

36 y/o. My father is a mechanic, as was his father and and his grandfather. Basically grew up in a garage. Went to tech school for Certification and worked at the garage all through high school when I decided that doing it for money took all the fun out of it for me. Left the mechanic trade behind but try as best I can to keep up with the technology. I do ALL of my own work and my driveway seems to attract neighbors and friends that need a little something done. Will work for beer.

mechanical engineer by education, design engineer by trade.
I have always loved tinkering with mechanical things. Most of my toys didn't really last long and just enjoyed tearing them apart and making new ones. Amazing what you can do with some tape and a glue gun! I think a car was a natural progression from RC cars . Listening to my dads old street racing stories is what really got me into hopping up cars, no matter what it was. I learn as I go along and I'm not afraid to tackle something I've never tried before.
I love the tech info that's on this forum. People I tend to watch are Old SStroker, Maggie, Madman, 427, EDC, Cstraub, J-Rod, Joe O., Calhoon, SStrokerAce to name a few. There is a lot to be learned from their experience and insight and thats what brings me to this forum.
Next to the drag racing section, this is quickly becoming my favorite part of the forum.

I/T department Director for a large publicly traded company by day...
electronics dork by night. Currently no project cars of my own, but I grew up around 5-engine pulling tractors, and people who restore older aircraft...
Currently spending all my time on new Megasquirt projects.

I graduated from UTI in 1986. I grew up with a grandfather who believed if you wanted something you did it yourself. I built my first ride in 9th grade (1969 Bronco) to drive to school. I have always been more interested in the suspension end of the vehicle than the power. I have seen more underpowered vehicles win with killer suspensions than the high hp cars.
I have built and tuned chassis for Stadium offroad racing, road course(SCCA legal), NHRA Stock, Super Stock and Competition Eliminator. I also have built a couple of PROMOD and Outlaw 10.5 cars.
some of the customers include Thomas Patterson, Frankie taylor, Brandon Pesz, and Buddy Schultz(PROMOD). My stock and Super stockers are the Emmons boys(helped get my Torque arm NHRA legal), Charlie Ford and Dale Hulquist. I also do work for Mark Kinsella and Mitch King(TOP FUEL)

Pipe! What's up man? Been missin' you on the Ford boards.
I had no idea you were into Criminal Justice. I've been thinking about going back to school to get a law degree for a while now.

i'm 22 years old and apparently the only person involved in this thread lacking a college education. i work for a geotechnical engineering firm as a project manager. i grew up around sbc, drag racing, and engines in general. i know my way around a gen 1 sbc (but who doesn't) very well, but this gen. 3 stuff is new to me. i will attempt any kind of mechanical work on my car granted i have a place to do it, as i live in an apt. complex. body work can be left to someone else.
